Well, this was unexpected. NBC agreed to air something awesome. Of course, they waited until 1am Saturday night/Sunday morning but still… something awesome was broadcast to the nation on the National Broadcast Company. After appearing as the musical guest on the season premiere of SNL, Arcade Fire made things weird by launching into their own after-show concert special. Directed by Roman Coppola, the style of the special was made to ape the crap that followed SNL in the early 1980′s. Look out for cameos from James Franco, Rainn Wilson, Bono, Ben Stiller, Michael Cera, Bill Hader, Zach Galifianakis, Jason Schwartzman, Eric Wareheim, and Aziz Ansari.

More of this please, NBC. Please fill your late night programming with gonzo stuff.

Bill Murray To Be The Yin To Charlie Sheen’s F*cked-Up Yang In ‘Charles Swan’ http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/bill-murray-to-be-the-yin-to-charlie-sheens-fcked-up-yang-in-charles-swan/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/bill-murray-to-be-the-yin-to-charlie-sheens-fcked-up-yang-in-charles-swan/#comments Fri, 28 Oct 2011 20:38:52 +0000 Penn Collins http://www.screenjunkies.com/?p=234214 Now if they could just get rid of Charlie Sheen.

Why on earth would Bill Murray jump into a film production with the human trainwreck that is Charlie Sheen? Duh. Because he’s such a good friend. It’s certainly odd that the notoriously choosy Murray would go from a Wes Anderson film (Moonrise Kingdom) to playing Franklin Delano Bluth Roosevelt in Hyde Park on Hudson to A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III starring that winner of tiger blood, Charlie Sheen. But when you realize that the director of the latter, Roman Coppola, is besties with and a collaborator of Wes Anderson, you realize that this is all about friendship.

And Bill Murray just being awesome.

It seems that Coppola has some pretty great friends indeed, having also scored Aubrey Plaza, Jason Schwartzman (his cousin), Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Patricia Arquette, and Katheryn Winnick.

Does all this participation outweigh the fact that this is a film built around Charlie Sheen?

Yeah. Bill Murray’s pretty awesome.

Seriously. He’s awesome.

Awesome.

Charlie Sheen To Become Roman Coppola’s Problem In ‘A Glimpse Inside The Mind Of Charlie Banks’ http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/charlie-sheen-to-become-roman-coppolas-problem-in-a-glimpse-inside-the-mind-of-charlie-banks/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/charlie-sheen-to-become-roman-coppolas-problem-in-a-glimpse-inside-the-mind-of-charlie-banks/#comments Thu, 08 Sep 2011 23:11:58 +0000 Penn Collins http://www.screenjunkies.com/?p=227633 But will it conflict with his regular gig on 'Two and a Half Men'?

Since a big budget film probably couldn’t get an insurance policy on the guy to save its life, Charlie Sheen’s first project after Two and a Half Men will be a starring role in the indie flick A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charlie Banks III opposite Jason Schwartzman. The film will follow Sheen as the titular Banks, as a “successful graphic designer” (clearly fiction) who is ultimately done in by his charm with the ladies.

I’m guessing that Charlie Banks doesn’t need to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on hookers, then.

The Chuck Lorre-figure on this production will presumably by director Roman Coppola, who will take on this project as his feature debut. We at Screen Junkies wish Roman the best of luck in forging ahead after this horrible, horrible casting decision.

We were all hoping that Sheen would sign on for a David O. Russell project that would culminate in a microcosmic World War II between actor and director, but Sheen will have to learn to crawl before he can walk. (Variety)
