Bureau of Moving Pictures has acquired the rights to make a movie about Rod Serling, the chain-smoking genius who created The Twilight Zone many moons ago for CBS. The script will be written by Stanley Weiser, who wrote Wall Street with Oliver Stone.

Before he changed the world of television forever, Serling was a paratrooper and member of the demolition squad in the Army during WWII. He then worked his way into radio before hatching the idea for The Twilight Zone. If you haven’t seen any episodes of the landmark show I suggest you Netflix some immediately before you anger me any further. I look forward to the holidays every year not so that I can spend time with my family, but so I can watch the Twilight Zone marathon on the SyFy channel. If my family chooses to participate, I have no qualms with that. May I suggest starting with “Eye of the Beholder.” It’s probably the most famous of all the episodes, and it really makes you think about the effects of ugly people. Or is it pretty people? Serling was always so damn good with those twists!
