This news leads me to believe DeNiro might be a white supremacist himself.

Robert DeNiro, after being reminded that he doesn’t have to suck in Silver Linings Playbook, is taking the producer tact for a moment and is behind a Showtime series about white supremacists in South Boston, titled Fourth Reich.

With such sensitive subject matter, I hope DeNiro takes pains to portray the neo-nazis in an evenhanded and fair fashion. Because the depiction of racists in media recently has been pretty darn unflattering.

Depictions aside, it’s nice to see that DeNiro seems to have taken a break from phoning it in to do some actual work of substance. Keep it up, Bobby D!

The target market for this film is...coma patients and people that have died in front of the television.

Uh-oh. Someone’s teaming up these old stars for a *shudder* comedy. Grudge Match follows two retired boxers (DeNiro and Stallone) as they return to the ring for one final GRUDGE MATCH!

Stop or My Mom Will Shoot. Analyze This. Analyze That. Little Fockers.

You get the idea. These guys aren’t comedic actors so much as they are warm, familiar bodies that are thrust into comedy due to a lack of options. Further, the idea of seeing Robert DeNiro shirtless isn’t really doing for me at this stage of his life or at this stage in mine. Considering that both actors have take turns in boxing movies that have been deemed among histories finest cinema, I’m not thrilled to see them yuck it up in the same genre because they’re old and…old people aren’t boxers, get it?

The film will be directed by Peter Segal, who underwhelmed audiences with films like Get Smart and Anger Management while this film has been kicking around in development hell.

I would end this with a sarcastic “Happy Friday!” but it’s only Thursday, so we don’t even have that going for us. Dammit.

Paul Weitz, Robert DeNiro, and Paul Dano are moving along with Weitz's dormant pet project, a movie based on the oh-so-effervescent memoir Another Bullshit Night in Suck City.

Paul Weitz, Robert DeNiro, and Paul Dano are moving along with Weitz’s dormant pet project, a movie based on the oh-so-effervescent memoir Another Bullshit Night in Suck City. The film follows a 20-something as he works in various homeless shelters, occasionally running across his estranged father. In case you couldn’t deduce, Dano will be the son and DeNiro the father.

Filming on the low-budget movie is expected to start in March, though no confirmation has been made. Casey Affleck was long attached to this project in Dano‘s role. No explanation has been given for the switch. Focus Features has picked up the film after Fox 2000′s interest waned with the departure of Affleck.

While little else has been divulged about the project, the book is set in Boston and New England, and Dano appears to be on the young side for the lead. Though the story takes place over years, it would seem that Flynn is more Affleck’s age than Dano’s for much of the story.

Weitz chasing down this project ought to do wonders to clean his soiled credibility after Little Fu-, excuse me, Little Fockers. Another Bullshit Night in Suck City has a blend of humor and heartbreak that Weitz demonstrated well in About a Boy and not at all in American Dreamz. Weitz seems like the right guy here, and the cast appears aces thus far. Don’t tell Ben Stiller about this. He’ll probably want to play an evil hot dog vendor or something.(The Playlist)

The prequel should be an adaptation of this image.A prequel of Jackie Brown has been written based off the novel The Switch by Elmore Leonard, which is a prequel to his novel Rum Punch, the book Quentin Tarantino read and then disregarded when making Jackie Brown. Tarantino has given his blessing on The Switch, but is not involved, so that means the source material probably won't get completely bitch-slapped. Dan Schechter wrote the screenplay and the search for a director and cast is about to begin. Jackie Brown characters Ordell Robbie (Samuel L. The prequel will follow young Ordell and Louis who, after hitting it off in prison, decide to kidnap the wife of a wealthy land developer and hold her for ransom. The twist? He doesn't want his wife back! This mashup of Overboard and Ernest Goes to Camp through the adapted eyes of Elmore Leonard is sure to be a... Nope, that word doesn't exist. (JoBlo)

For Cinco de Mayo, Robert Rodriguez dropped a package off at the home of his AICN homies, and it turned out to be the "illegal" trailer for Machete hidden underneath a pound of tamales. Alright, I’m not certain about the tamales, but it’s how I deliver all of MY packages.

If you enjoyed the fake trailer for Machete attached to Grindhouse, you won’t be dissappointed by the trailer for the movie made from the trailer. It features a Mexican-hating Robert DeNiro, a Robert DeNiro hating Mexican Danny Trejo, a gun-licking nun Lindsay Lohan, Steven Seagal, and Jessica Alba with a perm. Also, Soothsayer Rodriguez managed to tap into a controversy that’s bubbling over in Arizona at this very moment, and he predicted that sh*t months ago! Way to make the zeitgiest your bitch, Robert.

Check out the trailer below. Machete slashes into theaters September 3, 2010.
