After raising $5 million via Kickstarter, Veronica Mars producers were able to move forward with a big screen reunion. And after filming it and editing it all together, it’s now a movie. That movie has a trailer.

In the years since the show ended, Veronica has hung up her sleuthing in favor of the perfect big city life. However, she’s pulled back in when her ex is accused of murdering a pop star. Coincidentally, the murder happened around the same time as Veronica’s high school reunion which gives her the perfect chance to tell off all those cunts from high school a final time.

Good news for everyone who missed Party Down when it originally aired on Starz. Now you might have the chance to ignore a big screen adaptation of the series.

Show creator Rob Thomas spoke at an Alamo Drafthouse event celebrating the brilliant but canceled comedy and he had some good news that will hopefully pan out. “People are talking to us about doing a Party Down movie, and we are pretty far down the deal-making process with that … Ideally, if it works out, we could be shooting in television hiatus time next spring. So hopefully that deal will close, and we’ll all tweet about it when it does.”

Of course, Thomas is also the creator of Veronica Mars and plans to get a movie version of that off the ground never panned out. Between that, the rumblings of a Wet Hot American Summer prequel, and now half-promises of a big-screen Party Down, there’s never been a more frustrating time to be a comedy nerd. Or Ken Marino. Fox Orders Rob Corddry Pilot By ‘Party Down’ Creator, Destined For Hilariousness, Low Ratings http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/fox-orders-rob-corddry-pilot-by-party-down-creator-destined-for-hilariousness-low-ratings/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/fox-orders-rob-corddry-pilot-by-party-down-creator-destined-for-hilariousness-low-ratings/#comments Sat, 19 Feb 2011 00:12:29 +0000 Geoffrey Golden http://www.screenjunkies.com/?p=28882 I think potential hardcore fans are already planning the "save this show" campaign, for when it inevitably gets cancelled too soon.

Between “Veronica Mars” and “Party Down,” creator/writer Rob Thomas is eyeing to lock down a Cult Status Lifetime Achievement Award. Fox has greenlit Thomas’ latest single camera comedy pilot “Little in Common,” starring Rob Corddry (“Children’s Hospital” on Adult Swim). I think potential hardcore fans are already planning the “save this show” campaign, for when it inevitably gets cancelled too soon.

One thing Thomas is trying to do to stave off early cancellation: mimic the premise of an already popular show. “Little in Common” is about three different families, and how their lives are intertwined. Sound familiarish?

It centers on the Caucasian, oh-so-proper Wellers (Corddry, Paula Marshall) who move from San Jose, CA to Austin, TX, but find that their adjustment won’t be quite that easy, considering that their Latino neighbors, the Pachecos, have a radically different approach to child-rearing than they do, while their other new neighborhood acquaintances, the African American Burlesons, take sports very seriously.

How very “Modern Family“-y. “It’s like’Modern Family‘ meets sports,” Thomas pitched to Fox. “Middle America will lap this shit up.” If there’s no laugh track, rapid-fire jokes and only one camera, you could probably put monster trucks in there and it’ll still struggle for a second season pickup. ‘Party Down’ Creators Now ‘Temps’ for NBC http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/party-down-creators-now-temps-for-nbc/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/party-down-creators-now-temps-for-nbc/#comments Wed, 30 Nov -0001 00:00:00 +0000 Rob Thomas, Jon Enborn, and Dan Etheridge, the creators of the intelligent and hilarious, so of course now cancelled, "Party Down" have sold a pilot to NBC. "Temps" will focus on a group of recent college graduates who are forced to take a variety of oddball temp jobs to make ends meet. It will be single-cam like "Party Down" and "Community" (shows you love), not multi-cam like "Big Bang Theory" and "According to Jim" (shows your grandma loves). Thomas is also currently working on an outline for a show at Showtime. He told TV Squad, "Right now it's simply 'Untitled Rob Thomas Spy Show. It's set in the world of corporate espionage." That project is supposed to be dark though, not funny. At least not "Ha ha" funny. "Temps" better be ROTFLMAO funny, that is if NBC makes the pilot, the pilot tests well, they pick it up to series, it airs, and people watch it so it continues airing. Tell your Nana we need her support.
