When Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes earlier this year, he kept saying he’d never be invited back. He let loose with celebrity roasting, but now he is coming back to host again on January 16. Gervais told a conference call full of reporters that he plans to be even bolder with his jokes this time.
Will The Office bring in Billy Connolly or Sandy Duncan to take over Dunder Mifflin from Steve Carell? Creator of the British Office and executive producer of the American one, Ricky Gervais said we’re all thinking wrong.
Ricky Gervais is looking to break ground on "The Office" in the Far East. "We are about to start work on developing a Chinese "The Office,"" the comedian wrote on his blog Thursday.
The co-creator of the British and American version, and star of the former, will have to consider the difference in social mores between the countries. For instance, are bobbleheads even allowed in China offices, or is a minature plastic figure with a head that foolishly swings side to side a disgrace to formal business practices? I can't imagine a boss with a carefree management style such as Michael Scott would last very long as the head of a branch. In America, they give you a slap on the wrist for accidently spouting racist slurs. In China, your family is forced to disown you. At least, that's what SJ's China correspondent tells me. Or I assume, since I don't bother translating his emails. (THR)
Renowned Elmo tormentor Ricky Gervais has teamed again with his The Office/Extras co-creator Stephen Merchant to write and direct Cemetery Junction. And… and… honestly, I have no idea what it's about. I watched this trailer four times now and couldn't understand a word of it. Is that a real language that they're speaking? If so, is it called Chimney Sweep?? Here's what the studio claims it is about:Cemetery Junction, set in 1970s England, follows three blue-collar friends who spend their days joking, drinking and chasing girls. Freddie (Christian Cooke) wants to leave their working-class world, but cool, charismatic Bruce (Tom Hughes) and lovable loser Snork (Jack Doolan) are happy with life the way it is.Okay. That's what they claim. But to me this could just as easily be a movie about the formation of The Beatles. Or the Stones. Or Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders. I CAN'T F***ING TELL!! Watch the trailer after the jump, and please provide translation in the comments section.

"Maybe swinging by Taco Bell before the show was a mistake on my part."Last night at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards, host Ricky Gervais talked about his penis and helped hand out some statues. Avatar won for Best Motion Picture Drama and Best Director. Michael C. Hall and John Lithgow dominated for their work on Dexter. The Hurt Locker walked away empty-handed. Maybe the film will have better luck at The Academy Awards where the winners are based on merit, not studio checkbooks. *almost keeps a straight face*CHECK OUT THE FULL LIST OF WINNERS AFTER THE JUMP…
Recently Sesame Street's Elmo was having a really hard time falling asleep (you would too if you had a hand shoved up your poop-shoot). Luckily, the unbelievably famous Ricky Gervais broke into the young Muppet's bedroom to assist with a "Celebrity Lullaby." To coax Elmo off to Dreamland, Gervais decided to serenade him about the letter "N" and all the words you can spell with it. Words like, Nap, Nightcap, Nummies, and Naff off you insufferable little sh*t. Gervais doesn't come right out and say that but you can tell he wants to. Between this and their earlier insult-laden video, the tension between them is so thick. Hurry up and bang already, you two. Everyone knows you want it.
The TV Subtitling Industry is set to make a bundle this January as mumbly British comic Ricky Gervais has been hired to host the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards. This comes as no surprise as The Office star has crushed as a presenter at the Emmys for the last few years. Apparently, he's been approached to host other awards shows in the past but never had an interest. In a statement, Gervais… err… stated: "I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are just some things you don't turn down. Not only is this the biggest Hollywood celebration of the industry which includes both film and TV, but also an environment where I feel I can get free reign as a host."The noms for this year's Globes will be announced in December. Gervais appeared most recently in The Invention of Lying and will be seen next in his day-to-day life looking like a human/mole hybrid. (First Showing)
