Gaffigan has gotten a pilot deal to do a single camera sitcom with CBS based on a fictionalized version of his life. And he’s getting some help from Rescue Me creator Peter Tolan. Gaffigan seems to be one of the few personalities that can actually liven up a family sitcom while still keeping it in the bounds of good taste.

Not to put the cart before the horse, but this sounds like the rare network sitcom announcement that we can be a little optimistic about. Nice work CBS. Nice work Jim Gaffigan.

Now he can do the same with cops in the upcoming half-hour comedy Bronx Warrants, based on the real stories of two cops who were tasked with arresting people with outstanding warrants, though more in the name of cash than justice.

Screen Rant, for reasons unknown, claims that it’s unlikely that Denis Leary will star in the project, and will probably limit himself to executive producer of the show.

The fact that the show is only a half-hour allows me to be a lot more receptive to the concept, as does the fact that the sometimes-grating Leary isn’t slated to star. It’s been long enough since September 11th that I think the world is ready for a show about really, really awful New York cops.

It’s nice to see FX agrees.

No word yet on when the season starts shooting or airing, but with the season three finale not happening until April 10, one can bet that it will be no sooner than November or December of this year.

Justified has proven itself to be a fun, straightforward show that balances out serial and procedural elements that are buoyed tremendously by both rich writing and strong character performances, as Margo Martindale’s recent Emmy grab would indicate.

“Wilfred” premieres June 23rd at 10pm. The story follows a super-depressed Elijah Wood as he befriends his neighbor’s dog, whom for some reason only he can see as a man in a dog suit. Well, we can also see him as a man in a dog suit. Does that mean we’re all super-depressed?

“Louie” comes back for a second season of getting pissed off at things directly after “Wilfred” at 10:30pm.

And “Rescue Me” returns for its final season at 10pm on July 12th. After that, Adam Ferrara will be absent from television until the next time that Denis Leary has a show. (THR)

Denis Leary is known for his potty mouth, and his show "Rescue Me" on FX about New York City firefighters is the perfect forum for his tirades. The above montage exemplifies the eloquence of the program, stringing together the terms c*ck, balls, tits, bl*w jobs, and balls again in a profound fashion. If Shakespeare was around to witness this evolution, I’m pretty sure he’d throw up in his mouth. And Leary would give him sh*t for it.
