In a move that would probably surprise anyone who still pays attention to ratings, NBC has given season pickups to”The Office,” “Parks And Recreation,” and “Community.” The fan favorites “Parks” and “Community” are building solid core audiences, but have yet to catch on with a wide crowd. “The Office” is still pulling down considerably more solid ratings, however we’ll see if that persists next season with the departure of it’s star, Steve Carell.

This is incredibly encouraging news. “Parks” and “Community” continue to grow in ways that should serve as inspiration to anyone who thinks that great television can’t thrive on network TV. Let’s hope all three shows stay around forever, or just long enough to not wear out their welcome.
Raising Hope, Fox's freshman single camera sitcom, will live to see its titular newborn crawl and perhaps even walk next Fall, as the network has ordered a second season of the popular comedy.

“Raising Hope“, Fox’s freshman single camera sitcom, will live to see its titular newborn crawl and perhaps even walk next Fall, as the network has ordered a second season of the popular comedy. The series, about a down on his luck single dad with a crazy family raising a baby who is the product of a one night stand he had with a woman who was executed on death row (don’t worry, she totally deserved it), has taken a rather high concept and run with it quite nicely. Audiences seem to agree, as “Hope” is the number one new series of this past season among viewers under 35, partially thanks to the fact that its lead-in is ratings juggernaut and drama kid bait”Glee“. The series debuted this fall, paired with the equally high concept and name-of-character-in-titled “Running Wilde“, starring Will Arnett, which failed to garner the same positive reviews or ratings. Creator Greg Garcia‘s previous show, “My Name Is Earl”, ran for four full seasons and drew to a close in 2009.
