Originally, Liam Neeson and Val Kilmer were being considered for the role because Aronofsky wanted someone with “grit and size to be convincing as he goes head to head against [Russell] Crowe’s Noah character.” So… fat guys wrestling? That does sound epic. Though nothing more is known about this nemesis, let’s hope that Aronofsky doesn’t intend for this rivalry to lead to the bedroom as it did in Black Swan. The dwarves in Huntsman don’t correlate to their Disney counterparts because in this script, their identities are tied to those of Roman emperors. That way, the producers can entertain you and make you feel dumb at the same time.

It’s not clear how the filmmakers will portray these slightly less-than-average-size actors as dwarves. Some suggestions:

• Give Kristen Stewart growth hormone until she stands 14 feet tall. Build proportionately large sets. The actors will seem dwarfish by comparison.
• Cut off the actors’ legs just above the knee. They will putter around adorably like Dorf. (I’m not sure how the Screen Actors’ Guild will respond to that.)
• A green screen or CGI or something lame like that.

Anyway, it looks like I’ll be strapping those goddamn goggles to my head even sooner than I thought, thanks to a deal with Paramount. Now the movie is going to be shown on Thanksgiving, so you can drag all of your relatives to a midnight showing.

Hugo Cabret has Asa Butterfield as the Hugo, an orphaned boy living in a Parisian train station. It also stars Chloe Moretz, Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, Jude Law, Christopher Lee, Emily Mortimer, Michael Stuhlbarg and Ray Winstone, all fine people to share a Thanksgiving meal with. I question its trailerness because the “trailer” itself could use a little spicing up. It’s really just a confusing hodge-podge of sh*t. Plodding, dull, and doesn’t do much to explain or present anything. All we learn from this is that a young guy has to play Russian roulette. And Mickey Rourke is there. And there’s a guy overseeing the game who I swore was Jason Bateman the first time I watched this. Spoiler alert: he isn’t Jason Bateman.

Okay. Here it is. The trailer for William Monahan‘s first go behind the camera, London Boulevard. Colin Farrell stars as a gangster who falls in love with with a starlet played by Keira Knightley. What a perfect match. Who better for a media target to get involved with than a guy who can kick the sh*t out of TMZ. Make an example by breaking a few of their necks, and they’ll let you walk through LAX unencumbered.

Of course, it’s not all sunshine, lollipops, and neck-snaps. The sucky part of being a gangster means you need to kill all of your co-workers before you can shift careers, otherwise they’ll try to interfere with your future happiness like a bunch of dicks. That’s what Ray Winstone is up to when he shows up dressed like Royal Tenenbaum. Does two weeks notice mean nothing overseas?

Hugo Cabret, or the movie formerly known as The Invention of Hugo Cabret, has begin filming, with Martin Scorsese stationed behind a 3D camera shout-stuttering, "I-I-I wantit in my face more!" Two more actors have signed on to put it in Scorese’s face. Jude Law and Ray Winstone join the already cast Sacha Baron Cohen, Ben Kingsley, Asa Butterfield, and Chloe Moretz.

Christopher Lee, Helen McCrory, Frances de la Toru, and Richard Griffiths have also jumped into Hugo’s sandbox. The film tells the tale of an orphan boy living a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station. He finds a broken machine and gets caught up in a magical adventure. No drugs or execution-style hits are involved, and Joe Pesci won’t force himself on any women. (/Film)
