However, “experimental” is a pretty vague descriptor. How experimental did it get? Will the film feature Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz throwing oatmeal at one another’s asses? (Please say yes.) Doubtful. What it is likely to show is Ben Affleck staring out over a wheat field for an entire soundless, 11-minute shot. Then again, he has a knack for weaving large, existential questions into his narratives and Tree Of Life does feature dinosaurs so maybe Malick will surprise with something totally out of left field. I’m picturing a mopey downer of a film when suddenly – surprise! – ninjas. (24 Frames)

Gil (Owen Wilson) is a frustrated writer, successful in Hollywood but he really wants to be a novelist. Yes, another whiny, self-loathing writer character. He’s in Paris with his wife Inez (Rachel McAdams) planning their wedding. When the clock strikes twelve, Gil is able to visit the past and meet famous literary and artistic figures.

It’s a good idea, modern day Woody Allen surrogate hanging out with highbrow pop culture figures. They just don’t make any jokes. Ernest Hemingway (Corey Stoll) has tough love wisdom but it’s not funny. Zelda Fitzgerald (Alison Pill) is an oversensitive lush and F. Scott (Tom Hiddleston) is so modest it’s hard to get much out of his appearance. Maybe if I paid more attention in high school English I’d get it.

The real story is that Gil falls for Adriana (Marion Cotillard) in the past. She’s one of Pablo Picasso’s lovers, but of course the temperamental artist doesn’t appreciate her like modern day romanticist Gil. It’s not quite as typical as the usual older man/younger muse relationship Allen loves to write about, and there’s also nothing moving about it.

Don’t cry for Inez though. She’s pretty awful in the typical “why are they together in the first place” way of romantic comedies. She only does what she wants and even complains if gifts aren’t to her liking. Gil just babbles to try to keep her satisfied, and there’s no wi buried in those frantic rants.

The only payoff for Gil’s trips to the past are when he’s able to tell off a know-it-all snob who keeps lecturing the group about art. Otherwise, Gil just makes excuses to explain why he’s out all night. He gives artists their own ideas, since he’s from the future and knows the great works they haven’t written yet. You know, like Marvin Berry in Back to the Future.

The ultimate point about our obsession with so-called Golden Ages is obvious, and Gil still babbles his way to that conclusion. Midnight in Paris may be a love letter to Woody Allen’s favorite era and its greatest artists, but it’s superficial and dull.

In the film, Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams play a young, engaged couple spending time in Paris. Wilson’s character develops a fondness for wandering alone around the City Of Lights. He then finds that he prefers to do that over spending time with Rachel McAdams. See what I mean? That’s less believable than Sleeper.

The director is finally dusting off his sci-fi caper film, now with the clever name “untitled Moon project,” which has been lingering at Paramount after a jump from Dreamworks in 2007. After rewrites by top screenwriters like Simon Kinberg (Sherlock Holmes), and now that Liman’s All You Need Is Kill is getting killed for lack of momentum at Warner Bros, Liman is ready to round up actors for a good old fashioned space heist.

For the male lead, Limon’s met with Andrew Garfield, Emile Hirsch and Chris Pine. Of course, Chris Pine has spaceperience (space experience) as Star Trek‘s Captain Kirk, but I’m sure Spider-Man‘s been to space a bunch of times. No biggie. Jake Gyllenhaal used to be attached, but he ain’t no more.

Here’s the plot:

The story centers on a renegade group of former space employees, led by an Eastern European woman, who travel the world, stealing space equipment in an attempt to go back to the moon to acquire an energy source. The last item to steal — or in this case, kidnap — is an ex-NASA employee.

You’ve got to hand it to them – if you’re a criminal, what better place is there to escape to than the moon? It’s very unlikely the police will follow you in a squad rocket. Then again, how do you inconspicuously re-enter the earth’s atmosphere? (Hollywood Reporter)

Anyway, the movie has a typically Woody Allen cast full of standouts, including Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard,  Kathy Bates, Adrien Brody, and a cameo appearance the wife of the President of France, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. I hope she speaks English and knows how to pronounce “Dostoevsky,” otherwise she’s doomed to fail in a Woody Allen movie. (via Deadline)

Sources report that Rachel McAdams and Jessica Biel are both potential frontrunners for the role of Lois Lane, with such names as Malin Akerman, Kristen Stewart, and Diana Agron of”Glee” fame also being pegged to the list. At one point Anne Hathaway was a favorite to play the part, but she opted instead to visit the gritty realism of Chris Nolan’s next Batman flick as the psychologically damaged cat lady from down the hall, Selina Kyle.

Rumors aside, it’s likely too early for any concrete news on the Lois Lane front, and casting curveballs are still very much a possibility. Cavill, after all, was hardly mentioned as a potential Superman candidate leading up to this week’s announcement that he had snagged the role, and there’s always the possibility that the producers will realize Superman isn’t really that cool of a superhero after all and decide to scrap the project altogether. I mean, come on. A guy who can do anything? And only has one weakness? We all know the movie is going to end with him breaking out of some ill-conceived kryptonite trap and saving everybody while highlighting how tormented he still feels because he’s an outsider. Save it for Maury, Clark. No one feels sorry for you. (CinemaBlend)

Shhh… do you hear that? Over there in the crowd of on-lookers. It’s him. Megan Fox’s Flower Kid. He’s a little bit older and he’s upped his game, but that’s definitely him. Looks like he’s moved on from Megan and now has his sights set on Rachel McAdams. Which is absolute bullshit. I clearly saw her first.

No flower this time because c’mon, a full year and a half has passed and Flower Kid has bloomed into Flower Young Man. Flowers are the childish toys of children and hence must be put away. Though we’re sure he’ll always reserve a special place for Megan in his heart (and on the towel hidden beneath his bed), it is time to for new experiences. I fear what will happen if he is continually rebuffed. That’s how supervillians are born. Olivia Wilde would be wise to up her security. (Buzzfeed)

Sony Pictures Classics is also interested in the latest documentary from Super Size Me McAuteur Morgan Spurlock, The Greatest Movie Ever Sold. It appears to be kind of a documentary-about-a-documentary depicting Spurlock’s attempts to get sponsors for his movie, etc. Expect a fun moral about the evils of advertising and corporate sponsorship. Spurlock himself recently told The Hollywood Reporter: “Everywhere you look it seems like something’s being brought to you by some sponsor or some corporation. Adorable Rachel McAdams has agreed to work with the very fly, fresh, cool Channing Tatum in The Vow, a love story that sounds exactly like the Adam Sandler comedy 50 First Dates. What, you don’t believe me? Tell ‘em, THR!

"Vow" tells the real-life story of a newlywed New Mexico couple, played by McAdams and Tatum, who end up in a car crash. The wife is put in a coma, where she is cared for by her devoted husband. When she comes to, without any memory of her husband or their marriage, the husband woos her and attempts to wins her heart again.

See! It’s just like 50 First Dates, except without Rob Schneider in a mop wig. The project has been in development for more than a decade, but 50 First Dates came out six years ago, which is like four scores in Hollywood time, so the moment to strike is NOW. They could have at least turned the idea on its ear and put the husband in a coma. Tatum in a vegetative state would have been the wish fulfillment film of the decade.

Finally, a movie staring Harrison Ford that you’re supposed to laugh at (besides Six Days Seven Nights and Hollywood Homicide, which you were supposed to laugh at, but didn’t).

Morning Glory, produced by golden boy JJ Abrams and co-staring Rachel McAdams, Diane Keaton, Patrick Wilson, and Jeff Goldblum, seems like it might have some legitimate humor. The movie tells the story of a “hotshot television producer is set the challenge of reviving a struggling morning show program, despite the constant feuding of its high-profile anchors.” It comes across as part Network, part "Today Now", and part steaming pile of sh*t. That last part is probably due to the fact that the film shares a screenwriter with Th Devil Wears Prada and a director with Notting Hill. Even so, the trailer looks pretty good until the 2:00 mark, when Ford gets emotional and that Natasha Bedingfield song kicks in (I looked her up).

I have never met one male that doesn’t know and love Rachel McAdams. Some people say she has a big forehead, and I say to them, “YOU’VE got a big forehead!” I’m childish like that. Catch Rachel in Sherlock Holmes on Christmas Day giving Robert Downey Jr. sass.

A word from Rachel: “If I hurt someone, if I were to accidentally poke someone’s eye out, I would laugh. And then I’d say, ‘I’m sorry, I really do feel bad,’ but then I’m on the floor rolling.”

We share the same affinity for gauging people’s eyes out! Our first date will certainly be an interesting one… :O

I turned out to be right when I reported last week that Rachel McAdams was definitely cast as Black Cat in Spider-Man 4 maybe. Today comes word from the actress that it is nothing more than an Internet rumor:

“That’s a total rumor, I have to say,” the actress, who will next be seen in the Dec. 25 action-adventure tentpole Sherlock Holmes, tells EW. “I was hanging out in Toronto the other day and someone came up to me and said, ‘I just heard you’re doing Spider-Man 4.’ And I said, ‘Really? No one told me!’ It’s not true.” A rep for Sony Pictures concurs: “It’s an Internet rumor, as so many things are these days.”

See? So I was totally right possibly. But wait! There’s more vague rumors surrounding the picture. A casting call for an adorable red-headed toddler went out yesterday leading many to speculate that Mary Jane Watson will be a mommy in the sequel. Whether the kid has any relation to Peter Parker remains to be seen. Casting will be difficult. They want a child who has both red hair and is adorable? Good luck dudes.

Yeesh. So many Spiderman 4 rumors going around lately that I feel like I’m enrolled at Spiderman Regional High. We recently told you that Dylan Baker would be returning to the role of Dr. Curt Connors. That lead to speculation that the Lizard would finally metamorph onto the big screen. And now the latest rumors have Rachel McAdams (or maybe Romola Garai) being considered to play the Black Cat in the webslinger’s fourth flick. Please bear in mind that NONE of this news is official. Though I’m sure everyone would be excited to see McAdams don the pleather.

Honestly though, I wish the rumor mill would cease. If so many people continue to go in and out of Spiderman, soon it’s going to be more than his spidey sense that’s tingling. And the school nurse doesn’t have a lotion for that. Trust me… (First Showing)
