Antonio Banderas is doing that latin-lover thing again. But this time…in feline form Puss in Boots has (FINALLY) gotten his own spin-off from the Shrek franchise. The voices on this go-round include Banderas as the titular Puss, Zach Galifianakis, Amy Sedaris, Salma Hayek, and Billy Bob Thornton. Kids LOVE Billy Bob Thornton.

The outing will be directed by Chris Miller, who cut his teeth on Shrek the Third. This film will find Mr. Boots saving the world from some outlaws that have unlocked a special power or something. It’s not really important. What is important is all the adorable stuff this brave warrior does, like lap up cream and chase light projections on the ground. It all harkens back to the duality of man, er, cats.

Get knee deep in Puss on November 4th.

The DreamWorks Animation Shrek spin-off Puss In Boots dares to be a mainstream kids’ movie with the word “Puss” in the title. I dunno, it just looks off to me. Anyway, here’s a new teaser trailer, which opens with an homage to the Inception trailer and closes with a cat stunt-riding a horse. Why not? There’s also a new poster which you can see below. The thing that strikes me about the poster is the tagline, “Pray for Mercy.” Kind of a dark tagline for a kids’ movie, isn’t it? Maybe they’re going for a Princess Bride vibe or something. The movie, starring Antonio Banderes, is set for a November 4 release .(via ComingSoon)

DreamWorks Releases Promotional Image for ‘Puss in Boots’

DreamWorks has released the first promotional still for Puss in Boots, the planned spin-off/prequel of the Shrek films. The studio also unveiled a new website for the film, which is scheduled for release in November of 2011.

In the film, Antonio Banderas reprises his role as Puss, the smooth-talking cat adventurer. He is joined by Zach Galifianakis, who will play Humpty Dumpty, and Salma Hayek, who will play Kitty, a street-savvy cat with eight enormous, tan-colored breasts, each more beautiful than the last. Zach Galifianakis May Lend Voice To ‘Puss In Boots’

The producers of Puss In Boots have reportedly called Zach Galifianakis fat in the nicest way possible. The comic has been approached to supply the voice of the rotund, apple-cheeked Humpty Dumpty in the upcoming Shrek spin-off. Of course we all remember the story of Humpty Dumpty — after finding success amongst the Chicago improvisational comedy scene, the nursery rhyme egg went on to find greater fame with a thriving television and film career. Alas, he was tragically cut down in his prime by a deadly combination of alcohol, pills, and wall-sitting. If anyone can handle this mix of comedy and drama, it’s Galifianakis. (/Film)
