Herman Cain has finally admitted to an indiscretion. No, he didn’t own up to any sexual misconduct or admit to loving Papa John’s garlic butter dipping sauce. Rather, he admitted to quoting Pokemon: The Movie 2000 while electioneering and misattributing it to “a poet.”

The GOP candidate dropped out of the race on Saturday amidst scandal, but not before coming clean. In August during the Republican primary debate, Cain quoted “a poet” when saying, “Life can be a challenge, life can seem impossible, but it’s never easy when there’s so much on the line.”

This past Saturday he admitted his mistake.

“I believe these words came from the Pokémon movie. I’m not sure who the original author is, so don’t go write an article about the poet, but it says a lot about where I am — where I am with my wife and my family, and where we are as a nation. Life can be a challenge. Life can seem impossible. It’s never easy when there’s so much on the line. But you and I can make a difference. There’s a mission just for you and me.”

Had someone told me that Herman Cain loves both pizza and Pokemon, I’d had backed him 100%. Now I’ll never have that opportunity, as he’s been shamed and forced to drop out. I bet that Team Rocket has something to do with this. (THR)

In the midst of sexual harassment allegations and a newly alleged affair, pizza czar Herman Cain is reassessing whether or not he’ll remain in the race. The determining factors, according to Cain, are the toll the scandals have taken on his family, and whether or not he still has the support or if his constituents, some of whom have noticed he’s a shady nutbar. To make matters worse, he shares a name with the bad cyborg from Robocop 2.

No matter what happens, Cain can take solace in knowing he wasn’t quite as bad as the disgraced movie politicians listed below… as far as we know.

Greg Stillson – The Dead Zone

When clairvoyant weirdo Johnny Smith shakes hands with U.S. Senatorial candidate Greg Stillson, he gets a chilling view of the future. Stillson will go on to become President of the United States and later President of Blowing Shit Up With Nuclear Bombs. After the vision, it becomes clear to Smith that he must assassinate him. He makes his attempt at a rally, but misses. However, a spooked Stillson shows his true colors by grabbing a nearby baby to use as a human shield. That’s worse than 1000 Howard Deans.

Adam Sutler – V For Vendetta

If you’re going to head an ultra-Right Wing fascist regime, the last thing you need is a vigilante rising up to challenge you. That’s exactly what happens to Adam Sutler. He creates a police state by violently removing minorities, gays, non-Christians, and the handicapped from the UK. In the end, he is betrayed and murdered in front of his nemesis. It’s a fitting end. Otherwise he’d be reaping the paycheck from Viagra sponsorships.

Rick Perry went blank at last nights GOP debate while announcing the three federal agencies he would target to tame the budget deficit. “Oops,” he proclaimed after stammering for 43 seconds, trying to name the final one. Many theorize that this was the death blow to his campaign. How dare a candidate stammer and, umm…  what’s the word  I’m looking for? Um… ummm…. well, screw it. It’s gone now.

Cheer up, though, Rick Perry. Your blunder wasn’t nearly as embarrassing as these famous political screw ups.

Howard Dean

Howard Dean’s campaign for the Democratic nomination fell to shit after he admitted a spastic scream while working the crowd at a rally. I love the idea that someone can be in a room filled with their strongest supporters, but as soon as they do something dorky, it’s all over. It’s the political equivalent of your wife catching you watching Torchwood.

Sarah Palin with Katie Couric

Katie Couric‘s interview of Sarah Palin confirmed everyone’s suspicion that the vice presidential candidate didn’t have too much going for her in the smarts department. She failed to mention any Supreme Court rulings beyond Roe v. Wade, couldn’t recall the names of any of the newspapers she reads (“All of ‘em, any of ‘em”), and got her head stuck in a honeypot.

We Cast The 2012 Republican Candidates http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-lists/we-cast-the-2012-republican-candidates/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-lists/we-cast-the-2012-republican-candidates/#comments Wed, 12 Oct 2011 18:30:00 +0000 Wookie Johnson http://www.screenjunkies.com/?p=232145 I missed my calling. I should be in casting.

Last night’s Republican presidential debate gave America a lot to think about. How sensible is Herman Cain‘s 9-9-9 plan? Is Mitt Romeny a flip-flopper? Does Rick Santorum kinda look like somebody… an actor, maybe. You know the guy I mean. Hmmm.

Like I said, a lot to think about. And should Hollywood look to tell the story of these Republican candidates, here are the actors and entertainers who could easily be cast to play them.

Herman Cain Portrayed by Biff Henderson

I’m sure he has excellent union benefits, but it’s time that The Late Show’s Biff Henderson took on a bigger role. His recent performance as “Cappy” in Larry Crowne doesn’t count. Biff deserves to be in a movie that people see. Though I can’t imagine Biff launching volleys against the Occupy Wall Street protesters. He’s much more likely to make them look ridiculous in a pre-taped segment.

Mitt Romney Portrayed by Henry Czerny

As Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney eliminated a $3 million deficit. As Kittridge in Mission: Impossible, Henry Czerny walked around wearing a trench coat. That’s good enough for me! Cast the man, dammit.

Jon Huntsman Portrayed by Peter Berg

Should Battleship take a pounding at the box office, director Peter Berg may want to consider a return to acting. What better way than by taking the high profile role of Utah Governor Jon Huntsman? Of course, if other candidates for the role do some digging and discover his role in Corky Romano, he may be forced to resign from the race.
