‘Alien At Large’ To Be The Next Large Thing

The publisher behind Cowboys & Aliens, Platinum Studios, is partnering with Practical Pictures to adapt another of their comic books, this one called Alien at Large. Oh my, I can’t wait to see this alien get into some extraterrestrial mischief! Anyway, here’s a plot synopsis:

“‘Alien At Large’ tells the story of Earth’s first interstellar ambassador, who is not the brightest star in the galaxy. Although he means well, he has the uncanny ability to turn a harmless situation into utter catastrophe. Yet his bumbling might just save our planet, as his arrival unwittingly disrupts a nefarious alien conspiracy.”

Sounds a little like Men In Black, right? Anyway, details are sparse because this is the very early stages, but Platinum evidently has a very large stable of comics properties just begging to be adapted and shown in a movie theater. Stay tuned. (First Showing)

‘Vice’ To Go Straight From The Funny Pages To A Theater Near You

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any weirder, those kooks in southern CA have had another head-scratcher of an idea: Turn a comic book into a movie! You read that right: Comic books, previously only a subject of interest to fat virgins and their fat friends, are now apparently catching the eyes of Hollywood producers at Platinum Studios (Cowboys & Aliens) as well. The comic book (or “comic”) is called Vice, and here’s what it’s about:

“[T]he story of hard-core teen felons who join the FBI’s Critical Response Unit as a way to clear their records. Their bad attitudes and formidable powers make them as dangerous as the bad guys they pursue.”

Wow, that sounds almost like a premise that could pass muster on TV or in the pictures. We’ll see if this new “comic book movie” idea has any success – I hope so, because I can’t wait to see a movie version of The Family Circus. (via Deadline)
