The Spanish-French actress, who is making her english language debut with Pirates, is relatively well-known as an actress and model in Europe. She was personally selected for the role by producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Rob Marshall.

Pirate battles, killer mermaids, fireballs coming right at you. Fast cuts between those elements. An Inception-esque brawwwwwwm-filled soundtrack. The new TV spot above is making you very excited to see Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It’s why we’re all seeking the Fountain of Youth: so we can spend eternity absorbing Disney’s marketing for the movie.

Directed by Rob Marshall, On Stranger Tides stars Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and Penelope Cruz as Lady McPirateberg, the boobiest pirate of them all. There’s also Ian McShane‘s Blackbeard, who is totally not cool, you guys.

On Stranger Tides pillages theaters May 20, 2011 in 3D, IMAX 3D and RegularVision 2D.

Disney Reminds Us That ‘Pirates’ Began With Cheesy Animatrons

In an effort to help shove the memories of Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3 off your memory plank, Disney has released a new trailer for the film that reminds us of the original source material for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It all started with a ride at Disneyland, just like two other classic works of cinema: Haunted Mansion and The Country Bears.

The new outing is supposed to have more swashbuckling, less head scratching, which is good. After all, Americans come to these movies to see crazy spectacle and Johnny Depp acting like a drunk, gay Keith Richards, damn it. Who wants to also have to follow a crazy plot?

On Stranger Tides is about looking for the Fountain of Youth. What if Jack Sparrow finds it and the fountain grants him eternal youth as an animatron, living forever as a creepy robot who can only sort of move?

Dude, I Think The Mermaids From ‘Pirates 4′ Are Checking You Out

Yo, dude. You know how there’s gonna be mermaids in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides? Yeah, well, don’t look over there, but three hot mermaids from that movie are totally checking you out. I said, “don’t look.” You’re gonna blow it.

So, I’m gonna go over to the mermaids and be all like, “Johnny Depp is overexposed these days,” “Captain Jack Sparrow is a total gaygo,” “god, do we really need another Pirates movie poster” – and then you come in, pretend to punch me in the stomach and bam: you’re in with three hot mermaid chicks. Hope you can breath underwater and have sex underwater without suffocating. Oh, and you totally owe me. It’s times like these I wish I wasn’t married to that brazen wench of mine.

Hey, are we going over there or what? Cause on May 18th those fin-flapping bitches are gonna swim into theaters nationwide and you’ll have blown your big chance. Just sayin’. (Empire Online)

Brains vs. Booty: ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Zombie Art

Dead men tell no tales, but apparently undead men can have their own pirate ship and smoke a pipe. That doesn’t sound so bad to me, though I’m not down with the weird skin.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides features zombies. I’m not referring to Johnny Depp, who might be on brain-dead cruise control for the 4th Pirates outing. I mean that Captain Jack Sparrow will have to fight mermaids and zombie pirates in his crew’s next voyage.

Unlike pirates and ninjas, pirates and zombies are not exact opposites, and therefore it’s possible to combine them. Need proof? Here are some concept art images Disney released, as a preview of what’s to come when Sparrow and pals reach the Fountain of Youth. In this movie, Sparrow must ultimately fight the notorious Blackbeard, but maybe these zombies eat beards as well as brains. Advantage: Johnny Depp.

When it rains (production stills), it pours (production stills). Today it pours, with single images from Judge Dredd, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and a seemingly unofficial photo from the set of Spider-Man. What can we glean from these stills?

The new Judge Dredd kind of looks like a housefly, and the post-apocalyptic motorcycle looks like something a shop class would have made in 1981. Let’s hope that the upcoming trailer will give us some dimensions that the stills have failed to. (/Film)

The new ‘Pirates‘ appears to be trying to sell audiences on the 3-D experience they will provide with this image. Given that the franchise has gotten a little stale over the past decade or so, playing up the 3-D angle will probably do more for buzz than any aspect of the story good. With Disney behind it, this could be a fun one. (Cinema Blend)

Here, we can see that Spider-Man either broke his arm or Andrew Garfield has truly awful running form. We’ve seen this costume before, and it looks a lot more interesting up close than it does from this distance. Further, this is the second time we’ve seen Spider-Man jaywalking. I don’t to get all preachy, but someone should tell Sony Studios that impressionable kids will be watching this. (Coming Soon)

Judi Dench Joins ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’

Dame Judi Dench has signed on for a cameo in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Not surprisingly, Latino Review is reporting that Dame Judi will play a noblewoman.

Director Rob Marshall asked Dench to play a cameo role in which Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) escaped into a carriage with a noblewoman (Dench). As Sparrow used his charm, he also managed to rob her.

This entire “carriage of a noblewoman” setup is very reminiscent of a scene from the classic 2005 adult film, Pirates, staring Jesse Jane and Evan Stone. Will Dench be in the running for AVN’s “Best New Starlet” award this year? Only time will tell.
