This news makes total sense within the X-Men universe considering that Stewart’s Xavier was killed off in X3: The Confusinging. If the X-Men are to send one of their own (maybe Kitty Pryde) back in time, then Charles Xavier would not be present in that timeline. However, it’s reasonable to assume that the events of Days Of Future Past could lead to the resurrection of Charles Xavier who will then be seen in the final acts of the film. Or maybe Patrick Stewart isn’t playing Charles Xavier at all, but his rad party dude cousin, Tito Xavier. No. No. Then you wouldn’t be able to explain this second wheelchair. My head hurts.

Now that the only man who has been truly successful with this material is back at the helm, we can rejoice that we’ll see the sequel we’ve deserved for six years. But the good news doesn’t stop there. Singer is also apparently getting the band back together. He announced yesterday via Twitter that both Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen118 will be reprising their roles as Professor X and Magneto in some capacity.

In related news, ianmckellen118 would make an awesome band name.

While interviewing his Starfleet Command peers, Shatner also recalls his own experiences with playing the role. The actors interviewed are Patrick Stewart, Chris Pine, Kate Mulgrew, Avery Brooks, and, okay, I guess throw Scott Bakula in there too. Here’s hoping the sequel will see Shatner chasing after the sexy ladies of Star Trek. It can’t be hard to find that footage.

MTV met up with James McAvoy to talk about his upcoming turn as Professor X in Matthew Vaughn‘s X-Men: First Class. He knows that he has some large shoes to fill, as the role seemed tailor-made for Patrick Stewart, but he’s confident that he can bring his own touch to it.

"I’m basically going to try and bury Patrick’s performance. I think the fun about these films, when you go back and you either reboot or do a prequel, is you get to see how people became who they are. That means that you have to do them differently and by the end of the movie you have to do them the same way. The interesting journey is what happens to them, what changes them, what makes them evolve — not just mutate, but emotionally and psychologically evolve."

Oooo. Those are some tough words. I’d be careful what I say about Sir Patrick Stewart. The man is quick with a comeback after all.

Patrick Stewart no longer has to pretend to be a knight to pick up chicks. Queen Elizabeth II has bestowed knighthood upon the Star Trek / X-Men actor for his Excellence in Being British (or something like that) on her New Year honors list. Also knighted, but on a seperate New Zealand list, was LOTR and King Kong director Peter Jackson.

I sincerely hope that Stewart and Jackson do not take this honor lightly. You never know when the Queen may call you to fight. If you had paid attention during Reign of Fire, you’d know that dragon attacks can happen at any time. (NBC)
