Well, Kiefer got his, too. Like Party Down, the film will be a direct continuation of the series finale. Also like Party Down, very few people saw the series finale, so maybe they’ll give us one of those “Previously…on 24” montages that lasts for 43 minutes, showing the audience so many double agents, betrayals, and “dammits” that their eyes will begin to bleed.

Kiefer is touting an April filming date, despite the fact that the project hasn’t announced a director, nor has a script been approved by Fox. Mere details, I’m sure.

The film will once again follow Jack Bauer around during one of his trademark cuh-razy days, but with a run time of around 90 minutes, rather than the 18 hours. They might want to rethink that, though. Theater owners could make a killing off concessions should they make the movie 18 hours long.

And here they are coming straight from the woman herself:

“I will be doing the Party Down movie. John is writing it right now.”

She then went on to give us a fairly vague plot-point with, “I think we’re going to see Lydia’s ex-husband — Ed i think is name — who was really racist and a misogynist.”

I hope there’s more to it than just a racist and misogynistic guy ranting and raving. Actually, no. I don’t. That would be awesome.

The script picks up where the second season finale left off, so feel free to brush up in the next year or so, because Party Down is second only to Game of Thrones in its complex story lines and serial nature.

Clone High

Clone High was canceled by MTV halfway through its first season to make more room for Tila Tequila and Speidi and other things that suck. Too bad, though. The very original, animated comedy (from Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence and Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs writer/directors Phil Lord and Chri Miller) skewered teen dramas like Dawson’s Creek by following the clones of historical figures as they navigated the social landscape on high school. It’s perfect. Abraham Lincoln and Gandhi are re-envisioned as dorks, Cleopatra is the Queen Bee, JFK is the jock, and Joan of Arc is the angsty goth chick.

Action

Yes. A project starring Jay Mohr is being referred to as brilliant. The late 90′s Fox series starred Mohr as Peter Dragon, a Hollywood producer trying to bounce back after a box office failure. The series took shots at Hollywood, which is always a popular move in Hollywood. I wonder why it was canceled?

Freaks and Geeks

It truly is a shame that NBC pulled the plug on Freaks and Geeks during its freshmen year. The Judd Apatow-created series was the springboard for many of today’s biggest stars and boasted a quality of writing and performance that you don’t see nowadays. Outside of Judd Apatow movies of course.

The comments came after the screening of an episode of Childrens Hospital entitled Bar Mitzvah, which featured a cameo by the Party Down cast.

In the words of Marino himself, that news is so good that “I’d dip my balls in it.”

If Party Down ever becomes a movie, we’ll be having a lot of fun.

Show creator Rob Thomas spoke at an Alamo Drafthouse event celebrating the brilliant but canceled comedy and he had some good news that will hopefully pan out. “People are talking to us about doing a Party Down movie, and we are pretty far down the deal-making process with that … Ideally, if it works out, we could be shooting in television hiatus time next spring. So hopefully that deal will close, and we’ll all tweet about it when it does.”

Of course, Thomas is also the creator of Veronica Mars and plans to get a movie version of that off the ground never panned out. Between that, the rumblings of a Wet Hot American Summer prequel, and now half-promises of a big-screen Party Down, there’s never been a more frustrating time to be a comedy nerd. Or Ken Marino. Rob Thomas, Jon Enborn, and Dan Etheridge, the creators of the intelligent and hilarious, so of course now cancelled, "Party Down" have sold a pilot to NBC. "Temps" will focus on a group of recent college graduates who are forced to take a variety of oddball temp jobs to make ends meet. It will be single-cam like "Party Down" and "Community" (shows you love), not multi-cam like "Big Bang Theory" and "According to Jim" (shows your grandma loves).

Thomas is also currently working on an outline for a show at Showtime. He told TV Squad, "Right now it’s simply ‘Untitled Rob Thomas Spy Show. It’s set in the world of corporate espionage." That project is supposed to be dark though, not funny. At least not "Ha ha" funny. "Temps" better be ROTFLMAO funny, that is if NBC makes the pilot, the pilot tests well, they pick it up to series, it airs, and people watch it so it continues airing. Tell your Nana we need her support.
