Mia Wasikowska had a busy 2010 with Alice in Wonderland and The Kids Are All Right, and it doesn’t look like 2011 will provide any respite for this poor girl and her hard life. Despite protests from human rights’ groups all over the world, Wasikowska is set to appear in Stoker, the English-language debut of Oldboy director and iPhone user Park Chan-wook, and The Wettest Country in the World, a prohibition drama from director John Hillcoat.

Her tiny arms quivering from overexertion, Wasikowska appeared before the press and said”I am very happy to have the opportunity to work with these fine filmmakers. I am also hungry, please help me.” She was then hurriedly rushed backstage where multiple spectators reported hearing angry shouting and sobbing.

Wasikowska’s next movie is Jane Eyre, which is going to be released into theaters on March 11. If the early returns look good enough, it has been reported that she will be allowed to go outside for an hour or two if she promises to stay quiet.
We've reported earlier that Oldboy director Park Chan-wook's next movie Paranmanjang (which might eventually be released here in the US as Night Fishing) would be a 30-minute short film shot entirely on an iPhone.

We’ve reported earlier that Oldboy director Park Chan-wook‘s next movie Paranmanjang (which might eventually be released here in the US as Night Fishing) would be a 30-minute short film shot entirely on an iPhone. Now that we’re able to see some footage, it appears that, yes, Park Chan-wook’s next movie Paranmanjang is shot entirely on an iPhone. Here’s a plot synopsis to give you a little more understanding for the subtitle-free video:

“…a fantastical tale that begins with a middle-aged man fishing one afternoon and then, hours later at night, catches the body of a woman. The panicked man tries to undo the intertwined fishing line, but he gets more and more entangled. He faints, then wakes up to find himself in the white clothes that the woman was wearing. The movie’s point of view then shifts to the woman and it becomes a tale of life and death from a traditional Korean point of view.”

Creepy, right? At least Chan-wook isn’t filming the next Fred movie. THAT would be creepy.
Shooting a film for theaters? Yes, there's even an app for that.

Shooting a film for theaters? Yes, there’s even an app for that.

If you hate yourself for wasting so many hours of your life playing Angry Birds, prepare to get angrier. Rather than catapult birds at egg-stealing pigs, ultra-violent Korean horror movie director Park Chan-Wook (‘Oldboy‘) shot an entire 30 minute film on his iPhone 4. Not only was the film, with the super catchy title Paranmanjang, shot on Apple’s beloved mobile device, but according to the director…

“From hunting for a film location, shooting auditions, to doing a documentary on the filming process, everything was shot with the iPhone 4. We went through all the same film-making processes except that the camera was small.”

The film isn’t a Korean Cloverfield, where handheld cameras play a key role in the story. This movie’s about a fisherman who fishes up the body of a dead woman, who later becomes the film’s protagonist. So… it sounds a little weird. Then again, a guy relentlessly attempting to rescue his not-quite-girlfriend from getting squashed by a monster is a little weird too.

Paranmanjang will be released in Korean theaters later this month. (Moviefone)
