7 Hasbro Properties Reimagined As Horror Films

There are many things that will go down in cinema history. Citizen Kane, Casablanca, and yes, the epic Hasbro movie deal that now includes Transformers 4 and 5. With the Ouija, Monopoly, and Stretch Armstrong movies in the works, it’s no surprise they’ll soon be scraping the barrel to adapt their other properties.

Seeing how Paranormal Activity 3 was just released today in the heat of the Halloween season, let’s take a look at some other Hasbro properties that could easily be reimagined as horror films.

‘Paranormal Activity 3′ Trailer Goes Back To The 80′s

Taking a page out of JJ Abrams‘s Super 8 playbook, Paranormal Activity creator Oren Peli has decided to go retro for the third installment of the found footage franchise. This time, rather than filming in the vain of Steven Spielberg, they chose to pay homage to Full House. Or something.

At first I was certain that this was a well-produced fan-made video but it seems to be the genuine article. It also looks like it solves the mystery of why these girls have been haunted their entire lives. Hopefully, it will also explain why this family loves to videotape their every move. They’re like the Kardashians.

Paranormal Activity 3 is directed by the Catfish team of Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman and will be in theaters October 21st, 2011.

‘Paranormal Activity 3′ Goes For Even Cheaper By Hiring Documentary Directors

When it comes to just setting up a camera and seeing what happens, you get an overlap between the premise of Paranormal Activity and the philosophy behind many documentary filmmakers, as well as those super boring art movies you see in galleries.

Maybe that’s why Paramount is hiring Catfish documentarians Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman to direct Paranormal Activity 3. This will be the first narrative feature for the duo, so it’s a little odd that they’re giving them the keys to a highly anticipated franchise film. Eh, I guess documentaries and scripted movies are pretty much the same, especially if you fake a lot of stuff.

Oh, not only is this Joost and Schulman’s first narrative movie, but it has to be ready for theaters by October, and they don’t even have a finished script yet. Have fun, guys. (/Film)
