What’s most alarming about this movie is Norm MacDonald stars as the voice of Fang for some reason. The reason, of course, being that the f*&^ing Cavs couldn’t cover the f&^*ing spread!

Tonight, Norm MacDonald’s new show, “Sports Show with Norm MacDonald,” premieres on Comedy Central. I’m big fan of Norm, so I’ll be turning in. After all, I’m not going to pass up a chance to watch the man who eviscerated the ESPY’s host his vary own sports show. And in honor of his new program, I’ve put together nine ridiculously funny Norm MacDonalnd moments. It’s a great way to look back at the offbeat humor that has fueled his career. It’s also a great way to pad an article with Youtube videos. Enjoy.

9. The White House Correspondence Dinner

When performing in front of someone as important as the President of the United States, most comedians would chose to play it safe. Not Norm. He chose to play it stupid. Not everyone got it, but considering the audience, that’s a good thing.

8. “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”

This clip isn’t really funny, but I put it on the list anyway. Why? Because it proves that while MacDonald might play a buffoon, he’s actually quite smart. Then again, it was celebrity week, so I’m sure the questions were dumbed down. Even so.

7. Weekend Update

Former NBC President Don Ohlmeyer was good friends with O.J. Simpson. As such, Norm’s constant O.J. jokes didn’t go over too well. It’s rumored to be the reason Norm was canned from SNL’s Weekend Update. Either way, his termination made for a hilarious exit-interview on “The Late Show with David Letterman.”

5. Norm as Larry King

How do you make fun of a guy who makes as many random, nonsensical statements as Larry King? Bring in someone who is equally adept at making random, nonsensical statements.

Norm MacDonald is such a comedic genius that you don’t even have to be a fan of rape jokes to appreciate the humor in this scene from Dirty Work.

All and all, Norm was actually a pretty big asshole to Courtney Thorne-Smith during her interview with Conan O’Brien. But at least it made for one of the funniest interviews in the history of the show.

1. The ESPY Awards

Here it is; the mother of all Norm MacDonald clips. From O.J., to Jordan, to Elway, no athlete was spared. I wonder why ESPN never asked him back?

Hopefully, Norm hasn’t gone soft, because tonight (10:30/9:30c), he returns to television in “Sports Show with Norm MacDonald.” The program airs on Comedy Central, and considering the success of the network’s celebrity roasts, I don’t think MacDonald will get into to too much trouble for taking famous athletes to task. If the show is half-as outrageous as his ESPY monologue or his comedy albums, you’re in for a treat…unless your last name is Roethlisberger or Vick.

The show has been picked up for an eight episode run, and is slated to start airing in April. Norm junkies won’t have to wait that long to see him back in action, though. The comic’s hour long stand up special airs on Comedy Central March 12th. This is great news for fans of the comedian wishing  he’d return to the spotlight. MacDonald has kept a relatively low profile in the last few years, popping up on talk shows and in roasts here and there, and launching short lived sitcoms. This show seems far more in line with his sensibilities. Let’s just hope there’s room for crack whore jokes on a show about sports. (Variety)

After Ricky Gervais’ hilarious but controversial performance at last night’s Golden Globes, there’s very little chance we’ll see him hosting next year. The comedian told USA Today that at last year’s ceremony, he was asked to return even before the broadcast had finished. This year, he received no such offer.

“So I probably won’t be here next year,” Gervais said, before adding that if he were invited back, “[he’d] go (expletive) mental.”

But without Gervais, what the hell is the point of watching? His shock value is the show’s only redeeming quality. If I feel like watching a bunch of movie stars kissing each other’s asses, I can just wait for the Oscars. I (reluctantly) watch he Golden Globes because a celebrity or two might get put in their place.

If the Golden Globes have any hope of staying relevant, they’d better find a host who can fill Ricky’s shoes. Here’s a list of 9 possible replacements.

Norm MacDonald
The nice thing about Norm MacDonald is he already has experience hosting an awards show. And unlike Gervais, Norm isn’t afraid to make a joke or two about double homicide or statutory rape.

Lisa Lampanelli
Insult comic Lisa Lampanelli hosted this year’s AVN Awards (a.k.a. the porn Oscars), which means she already has experience playing MC to a bunch of whores. That’s a skill which will come in handy at the Golden Globes.

Kathy Griffin
I’m not big fan of Kathy Griffin, but she’s not afraid to make a dick sucking joke on live TV, and that goes a long way in my book.

Don Rickles
Don Rickles has got to be pushing 90. Why not give the old guy an insult filled send off as the host of the Golden Globes. If he goes too far, he can always blame it on the Alzheimer’s.

Jeffrey Ross
This year, Ricky Gervais was prevented from wearing a Nazi uniform during his opening monologue. Given Jeffery Ross’ penchant for holocaust jokes, I’m sure he’d be a fine replacement.

Tracy Morgan
They serve alcohol at the Golden Globes, which means Tracy Morgan should do just fine as host. Besides, his insults might go unnoticed, because half the time, no one can understand what the hell he’s saying.

Louis C.K.
When it comes to putting pretentious people in their place, Louis C.K. doesn’t pull any punches. And there’s probably not a more pretentious gathering than the Golden Globes (aside from the Oscars).

Gilbert Gottfried
If Robert Downy Jr. has a problem with this year’s host making fun of him, perhaps he’ll be happier with Gilbert Gottfried. He makes Ricky Gervais look like Billy f**king Crystal.

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog
He’s witty, he’s crass, but above all, he’s not afraid to poop on a celebrity or two. That makes Triumph the Insult Comic Dog the perfect host for the Golden Globes. He’ll treat that room full of phonies like the bitches they are.

Does the crappy screen shot above look familiar? It should. It’s Norm MacDonald hosting the 1998 ESPY awards for ESPN. His performance insulted so many athletes that he was never asked to return, but it’s still one of the funniest, bravest performances you’ll ever see.

Now, over ten years later, Norm is returning to the world of sports with his own sports-talk show on Comedy Central.

The show would be a satirical look at the sports world. On board with MacDonald is Daniel Kellison, a veteran TV producer whose credits include ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Man Show,” according to person familiar with the project…

I know some people (like our friends at Warming Glow) are afraid Norm isn’t a good fit as a talk show host. And I see their point. But if he can manage to create a show that’s half as funny as the following clip, it will still be hilarious. (Show Tracker)
