Monkeys Attack In ’30 Minutes Or Less’ Red-Band

30 Minutes or Less hits theaters August 12, 2012.

Below are two new posters to go along with the recently released trailer for 30 Minutes Or Less, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari. It’s based on a true story, but a crazy true story, not one of those bullshit, heartwarming true stories you see advertised every now and again. (I’m looking at you, tail-less dolphin movie.) Eisenberg plays a pizza guy assaulted by criminals played by Nick Swardson and Danny McBride. They strap a bomb to his chest and force him to rob a bank, and somehow his buddy Aziz gets involved. This has all the elements I look for in a comedy: great cast, ridiculous premise, maximum hijinx potential.

The posters feature a scared as hell Eisenberg and Ansari, mid-robbery, as well as the very first intelligent apes from Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Didn’t you know this takes place in the Apes universe? Just like in the true story its based on. (30 Minutes Or Less Official Site)

What I didn’t see coming was the The Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes cross-over. Those monkeys must be stopped before we’re all slapped in the face with Fate’s cock.

A few months back I had the opportunity to visit the set of Nick Swardson‘s new Comedy Central show "Pretend Time." When I arrived, the comedian was a wearing a crimson red hat and veil, not unlike Lady Gaga. He also donned a police uniform, badge, and department issued handgun. Even though the shoot was taking place in cuckoo bananas Hollywood, something seemed amiss. Turns out Swardson was playing Lady Gaga’s brother, Gary Gaga, just a guy trying to keep it real while keeping the streets safe. 

After Swardson completed a standard traffic stop in front of confused passersby, I sat down with him to discuss his new sketch show, as well as some upcoming features. Luckily he has taken off the gaudy Gaga attire, so I could concentrate on the task at hand.

Screen Junkies: Tell us some about all the glitz and glamour of “Pretend Time.”

Nick Swardson: Nobody wanted me to do it. They were like, “Awww you wanna do a sketch show?” but I’ve always wanted to do sketch, and I believe in Tom and I love “Human Giant.” I just thought it would be a great place to showcase all of the characters I create.

SJ: Will we be seeing any of Terry from “Reno 911?”

NS: No, I just wanted to do all new shit. I’ve done Terry for so long. I can’t even believe I’ve been doing him for so long. By season 3 we were like, “What the fuck is Terry doing this season?”

SJ: Who are some of the guest stars we can expect to see?

NS: Maybe. I kind of describe it as Napolean Dynamite meets Boogie Nights. He’s a really goofy character. People should know going into it that there are filthy moments for sure, but the tone of it’s not dirty. We tested really big with females, which no one really planned on. They really liked the love story. But when it gets hardcore, it gets hardcore.

Comedian/actor Nick Swardson has a new show coming to Comedy Central in October called "Nick Swardson’s Pretend Time." I was invited to visit the set a few months ago, and will share some of that footage with you once it gets closer to the premiere date. I know you guys are savages though, so in the meantime, here’s a clip about a disabled cat in a wheelchair. His name is Mr. Stitches the Trust Fund Kitty and he rolls around with b*tches and blow just like Stephen Hawking. 

I’m officially sold on this show. I’ve loved Nick Swardson’s particular brand of humor ever since I caught his early stand-up special way back when. In my book, any man who mixes drugs, boobs, and felines without feeling below the waste deserves a shot. It’s a weird book I keep. (WarmingGlow)

Michael Pena and fart detective Nick Swardson are in talks to join Danny McBride and Aziz Ansari in 30 Minutes or Less. Swardson will play the best friend to McBride’s rigged-to-explode pizza guy cum (titter (hee hee!)) bank robber. Pena, who we’ll see opposite McBride in season two of Eastbound and Down, is in talks to play a tattooed assassin. It’s a good thing that the roles aren’t reversed. I can’t imagine Swardson as a tattooed assassin. Mostly because I can’t take an assassin with a tramp stamp seriously. I don’t know. He just seems like the type. (THR)
