Here’s some news that will make the not-Nathan Lane Nathan Lane wish that he were Nathan Lane. Ahem. Nathan Lane is in talks to join Tarsem Singh‘s adaptation of Brothers Grimm: Snow White.

The film is already slated to star Armie Hammer, Julia Roberts, and Lily Collins. In the type of role that normally goes to Stanley Tucci, Lane will play the main servant to Roberts’ Evil Queen. He’s reported to be loyal to her out of fear, so expect a lot of humble hunching over and skittering backwards out of the room. That’s textbook royal servant behavior. That and laying across puddles so the Monarch needn’t dampen their precious feet. (THR)

Nathan Lane is rubbing it in the face of pudgy Broadway hopefuls. He’s starring in a half-hour comedy series for USA Networks titled, “On We Go.” In the series, he’ll play a struggling actor whose career sees difficulties because he looks exactly like Nathan Lane, but is not Nathan Lane.

That sounds like it could be funny in a wink, wink, nudge, nudge kind of way. Like, he’s working as a waiter at a restaurant to make ends meet, and the real Nathan Lane comes in for dinner. And the real Nathan Lane complains about having a terrible cold and there’s no way he can act that night. That’s when the Fake Nathan Lane steps in and wins the Real Nathan Lane a Tony.
