The Peacemaker and Deep Impact helmer will direct an adaptation of All Quiet On The Western Front. The WWI novel was previously adapted and went on to Oscar glory but that was before there was color film so fuck it.

The new All Quiet On The Western Front will make up for the lack of color and CG explosions implemented in the original. The story centers on a young German soldier traumatized by the trench warfare going on around him. Leder wasn’t familiar with the novel or original film when she read the script, but found herself drawn to the themes of disillusionment that could easily mirror the sentiments of modern warfare.
