Director Michel Hazanavicius secured the best directing award for bringing back to life the whimsy and scope of classic silent movies. Haters gonna hate so let’s hear it if you disagree with this decision on part of the Academy. But bear in mind, this is the man who coaxed an amazing and moving performance (both emotional and physical) from his star.
