Nominado Al Oscar Jake Gyllenhaal and the excellent Michael Pena co-star as cops on the streets of Los Angeles in this first trailer for End Of Watch, which is apparantly a found footage film. It’s like Cloverfield with Mexicans.

The video diary aesthetic places us right in the action and gives us a good sense of what life on the streets is like for a Los Angeles cop. They crack jokes with Mexicans, go to Mexican weddings, and get in gun fights with Mexicans. I think Mickey Rourke would be a much more fitting title for this film.

There are no details about what kind of secret hazing was involved in his initiation but Ruben Fleischer has announced that his 30 Minutes Or Less star Michael Peña has been allowed to join The Gangster Squad. The actor best known recently for his performances in Battle: Los Angeles, Observe and Report, and the second season of”Eastbound and Down,” will star alongside Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, and Ryan Gosling according to the director.

Not mentioned is Anthony Mackie, who probably didn’t have what it takes to pass initiation. You wanna be a star, you drink the pee. (Gordon and the Whale)

Here’s a startling development: It turns out Jake Gyllenhaal isn’t merely starring in End of Watch – he shaved his head and everything! My claim that he is the next Bruce Willis is really starting to bear out – funny because I had no idea what I was talking about at the time. The other mope in these pictures is Michael Peña, who did not shave his head, which I assume means that he is not as good an actor as Gyllenhaal.

Charles Manson, one of the original cowboys, is experiencing an upsurge in popularity recently, perhaps due to the fact that he was a raving paranoiac before Glenn Beck made it cool. He’s got at least three movies in development all about him, including The Family and Manson Girls. But the movie we’re here to discuss is called Eyes of a Dreamer, which Lindsay Lohan is attached to. Now, shock-rocker/sad little man Marilyn Manson is in talks to play Charles Manson’s right-hand man Tex Watson. Nick Swardson and Michael Pena Join ’30 Minutes Or Less’

Michael Pena and fart detective Nick Swardson are in talks to join Danny McBride and Aziz Ansari in 30 Minutes or Less. Swardson will play the best friend to McBride’s rigged-to-explode pizza guy cum (titter (hee hee!)) bank robber. Pena, who we’ll see opposite McBride in season two of Eastbound and Down, is in talks to play a tattooed assassin. It’s a good thing that the roles aren’t reversed. I can’t imagine Swardson as a tattooed assassin. Mostly because I can’t take an assassin with a tramp stamp seriously. I don’t know. He just seems like the type. (THR)
