BATMAN VS. ROBOCOP!!!

Batman vs. RoboCop! BATMAN VS. ROBOCOP!!

Michael Keaton has been set to play the role of Raymond Sellars in the MGM/Columbia Pictures’ RoboCop remake. Sellars is the CEO of the corporation that builds RoboCop, a role that Hugh Laurie was expected to play until he dropped out before consummating a deal. The film, a re-imagining of the 1987 Paul Verhoeven cult classic, is scheduled to begin shooting next month. RoboCop will be released on August 9, 2013. (Deadline)

Pardon my excitement. I know this isn’t necessarily great news for the film, but it is the closest we’ll get to seeing Batman fight RoboCop on the big screen.

Just Go Hawaiian already!!

Now that Seth Grahame-Smith is putting the finishing touches on his Dead-United-States-President-fighting-vampires masterpiece, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, he has time to think about his future projects. The most important of those being Beetlejuice 2.

Though he hasn’t written the script yet, he has spoken with Michael Keaton (which essentially equals a go picture in Hollywood… twenty years ago). Believe it or not, Keaton is really excited for the project.

“I met with Michael last week,” says Seth, “and his excitement level is huge. We talked for a couple of hours about big-picture stuff. He’s been wanting to do it for twenty years and he’ll talk to anybody about it who will listen!”

Translation: Seriously. He has my home number. I’m scared.

Though we won’t get the famously scrapped sequel, Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian, we shouldn’t worry about the level of quality you expect from a Michael Keaton picture diminishing.

“It’s a priority for Warners and it’s a priority for Tim.” But he’s keen to emphasise that he doesn’t want to taint the first movie. “I have a huge reverence for Tim and a huge reverence for that film in general,” he promises. “I don’t think we should do it if we shit on the legacy. Michael agrees. So, right now, it remains to be seen. I have a couple of story ideas, but we’re very early out.”

Thank goodness. We don’t need a repeat of White Noise 2. (Shock Til You Drop)

While Ghostbusters 3 is seeming less and less likely, another ghoul film from the 80's may be getting closer to a sequel. Actor Michael Keaton has expressed interest in reprising his role of Beetlejuice, the ghost with the most. When asked about the possibility, Keaton replied, "Absolutely, that's the one thing I'd love to do again." I would have guessed that the "one thing" Keaton would have chosen to revisit would have been Mr. Mom, or maybe Gung Ho. But that's just me.Considering his Beetle Juice co-star Geena Davis has already expressed interest, it's probably only a matter of time before a studio throws money at yet another 80's nostalgia project. Of course, this is provided Alec Baldwin isn't too busy with "30 Rock," and Winona Ryder isn't too busy shoplifting! Zing! That joke is just as relevant as it was nine years ago!
In this exclusive, behind the scenes look at Toy Story 3, Ned Beatty and Michael Keaton join an ensemble cast for the most powerful chapter to date in the beloved franchise. When Andy heads off to college, adventure fanatic Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) takes his toy friends on a river-rafting trip into the dangerous American back-country. During a chance encounter with a group of locals, an offhand comment about moonshine by Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear (Beatty) leads to a violent sexual assault. The trip soon descends into a nightmare in which both nature and mankind conspire against the toys, putting their lives and perhaps even their souls at risk.
The toys happily welcome Pervert the Octopus to the group. Nothing makes me giddy like a Pixar trailer. Those (evil?) geniuses always knock it out of the park, and Toy Story 3 looks like no exception. All of our favorite toys are back, and they're mixing it up with a new batch of playthings when they're donated to a day care center. You'd think the rest of the movie would follow Woody and Buzz as tiny tots jam them into various orifices, but instead it appears they're loving their new home. In The Closet Ken, voiced by Michael Keaton, convinces himself he has feelings for Barbie inspite of the new cowboy arrival, and Pervert the Octopus offers up massages (with happy endings, no doubt). Everything's right as rain until the toys find out their abandoner, Andy, is looking for them. They decide to break out and go in search for the owner who cast them aside like yesterday's garbage when he decided to go better himself at college. What a selfish prick. You don't deserve these special toys, Andy! They're too good for you! You hear me, Dad?! Oops... That's an issue I need to take elsewhere. Check out the trailer after the jump. Toy Story 3 hits theaters June 18th.
