The film takes place in the days following the Cherbobyl disaster and centers around conversations had between Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev while they took a spa vacation together in Iceland to begin considering peace between their nations. That would mean this movie is set in 1986, which means Reagan’s former co-star Bonzo the Chimp won’t factor into the story. So, Andy Serkis‘s agent can stop leaving so many voicemails. (THR)

So, here’s our handy guide to when you can leave the couch this Sunday without missing anything that may interest you. If you’re going to waste your time, you might as well waste it doing something awesome.

The Red Carpet

Unless you’re hungover or a live-blogger (pretty much go hand-in-hand) there’s no reason to watch the Oscars red carpet pre-show. It’s never interesting and who cares who is wearing whom? We’re not our mothers, wives, or girlfriends so there’s no usable information to be gleaned from this. At best we’ll be able to get a look at an A-list actress looking pretty hot. But that’s only good if you’re in the comfort of your own home. It’s generally frowned upon to fap openly at Oscar parties which isn’t fair considering Hollywood will be tossing itself off the entire night.

Cirque du Soleil

It seems like every year, producers of the show try to shoehorn feats of gymnastic bendiness into the already too long award show. I see no benefit to having Cirque du Soleil there on Oscar night. Watching people with their genitalia smooshed uncomfortably into zebra-striped unitards twist while they around upside down doesn’t help me understand The Help on any deeper level. If the show is aiming to be entertaining, they should hire a real circus. One with elephants and clowns who spray winners with seltzer if their acceptance speeches go long.

Ernest Borgnine

Date of Birth: Januar 24, 1917

Most famous for the lead role in McHale’s Navy, old fart Ernest Borgnine has also enjoyed a long career with appearances in Escape From New York, The Wild Bunch, The Dirty Dozen, and BASEketball. In recent years, he famously admitted that the secret to his health and longevity is that he spends a lot of time masturbating. In fact, he’s probably doing it right now. There’s a visual.

Kirk Douglas

Date of Birth: December 9, 1916

Kirk Douglas most recently frightened children when he appeared at the Oscars and delivered a 17-hour speech. However, before creeping out James Franco, he was one of Hollywood’s biggest stars in his day. He starred in Spartacus, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and The Final Countdown. He also has the distinction of being the only living being that prevents Michael Douglas from looking old.

I’ve looked at some photos of Liberace, and I think Michael Douglas is a good pick to play him. Not sure what angle Soderbergh is going to take towards the material, but as one of the best directors working now, I trust him. I … I guess I’m going to watch a movie about Liberace. Weird. Are Will and Jaden Smith the most successful father-son acting duo of all time? Not, yet, but sadly, it won’t be that hard for them to claim the title. If their latest collaboration with M. Night Shyamalan does well, they’ll already have two successful films under their belt, which is more than most father-son acting teams can say. And considering that Jaden is only four years old (estimated), odds are we will be forced to endure this family for years to come.

But with all the famous Hollywood families that are out there, surely someone must be giving the Smith’s a run for their money. Not really. Take a look for yourself.

Peter and Henry Fonda

Jane and Henry Fonda starred in On Golden Pond, a film that has gone down as a classic. But what about Peter and Henry? Well, they both starred in Wanda Nevada (and by starred, I mean Henry had a bit part). Ever heard of it? I thought not.

Jake and Gary Busey

Gary Busey is the greatest actor of his, or any, generation. And Jake Busey is the greatest actor who also happens to be Gary Busey’s son. Together, they’d make at unstoppable on-screen pair. Unfortunately, they haven’t done much, other than Straight Time, co-starring Dustin Hoffman and Kathy Bates. Jesus, look at Jake’s head in that picture. Are motorcycle-accident injuries hereditary?

Scott and James Caan

James Caan was in The Godfather. What else do I have to say? His son Scott was in Ocean’s 11, which is what it is. Together, they were in Mercy. I’m not saying it’s a bad film, mainly because I’ll never know. At any rate, I think Will and Jaden are safe from this father-son pairing.

Adam and Alan Arkin

Alan Arkin won an Oscar for his role in Little Miss Sunshine. Somehow, he wasn’t even nominated for his role in Full Moon High, which co-starred his son Adam as a teenager who turns into a werewolf. No, this isn’t Teen Wolf, but it did come out first, which leads me to beleive that Michael J. Fox probably isn’t too popular at the Arkin household.

Cameron, Michael and Kirk Douglas

Michael, Kirk, and Cameron Douglas all starred together in the film, It Runs in the Family. It was so awful that Cameron was sent to prison for his involvement. It’s true. Look it up.

Jeff, Beau, and Llyod Bridges

Jeff and Llyod Bridges actually co-starred in some respectable films, including Tucker. Beau and Lloyd were both in the film Daddy, which, based on the title alone, I’m going to say is horrible. Unfortunately, now that Lloyd is dead, they don’t have a chance against the Smiths.

Ben and Jerry Stiller

It might not have made as much money as a Will Smith film, but at least the Stillers can hold their heads up high for the comedy, Zoolander. Not too high, though. It’s still a pretty stupid movie.

Keifer and Donald Sutherland

Does the name Max Dugan mean anything to you? I’m guessing not, which doesn’t bode well for Keifer and Donald Sutherland. It was Keifer’s first film, and Donald’s 347th (estimated). The two later co-starred in A Time to Kill, which isn’t horrible. Maybe if they throw Donald a bone and cast him in the rumored 24 film we can get something going.

Emilio Estevez, Charlie and Martin Sheen

Last but not least, we have Martin Sheen to save the day. Yes, he was in Emilo’s film, Bobby, and the two also co-starred in The Way. But luckily, both Charlie and Martin were in Wall Street, an Oscar winning classic. Something tells me M. Night’s next film isn’t going to take home any statues. Suck on it, Smiths!

When you least expect it…

Cancer-free Douglas told Matt Lauer that his tumor is gone and he’s gearing up to return to work later this year. His first project back will be opposite Matt Damon in Steven Soderbergh‘s Liberace biopic. That’s fantastic news. I’m tired of writing obituaries and it would be a shame if the 66-year old didn’t get to see his young children at least into their fifties. (InsideTV)

In this new clip from Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Gordon Gecko (Michael Douglas) and Bretton Woods (Josh Brolin) get all up in each others’ business practices. When Gecko takes Bretton to task for his sub-primes, you know it’s on like 4:59PM on the floor of the Stock Exchange. My brow gets sweaty just thinking of these two ruthless businessmen discussing market liquidity. You have to build up to that kind of conflict, though.

Today we get a second look at Oliver Stone’s Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps via the international trailer. Even though we didn’t ask for it. Thanks, I guess.

This time around we learn a bit more about the plot. Michael Douglas is out of jail and lecturing a new generation about how to rob people blind. Shia LaBeouf stars as his idealistic ward who incidentally plans to marry his estranged son daughter. A bunch of cliché stuff happens and there are motorcylces and the Rolling Stones. Then Shia must choose between millions of dollars and dating a girl who looks like Justin Bieber. The End. Hey, remember 9/11?

Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps – International Trailer – Watch more Movie Trailers

The world sure has changed since the 1980′s. Gordon Gekko sees this first-hand, as he is released from prison in the teaser for Oliver Stone’s Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. It seems that black people are now permitted to be passengers in limousines rather than being relegated to the role of sass-mouthed driver. Greed has been legalized. Text-projected-unnecessarily-on-face technology has grown by leaps and bounds. As has cell phone technology as Gekko learns in a wink-wink That 80′s Show-inspired bit. Also, Brand from The Goonies appears to have done pretty well for himself.

Seriously though, if only Michael Douglas knew somebody of Welsh descent with ties to T-Mobile. Dude’s in need of a nationwide 3G network with flexible contracts like whoa.
