FilmNation Entertainment snagged him to direct the thriller, Message From the King. The story centers on Jacob King, a man who comes to Los Angeles with the intention of finding his missing sister. Given McTeigue’s pedigree, it’s safe to assume that will involve karate and explosions.

McTeigue just completed the John Cusack with a goatee thriller The Raven, which was also a FilmNation project. Production head Aaron Ryder said, “After working with James on The Raven and then seeing a cut of the film, it was very clear to us that we needed to make his next movie.” If he could make a movie about a karate-fighting Edgar Allan Poe awesome, there’s no limit to his abilities.
