The story is about a screenwriter — trust me, it does get better — who investigates the “suicide” of pop star Bobby Fuller in 1966.

Watch This Spike Jonze Approved ‘The Fighter’ Trailer

Director Spike Jonze really seriously for reals wants you to see his friend David O. Russell’s The Fighter. He saw it and loved it, and doesn’t think that the original studio trailer does it justice.

Serious Family Drama Behind ‘The Fighter’
Tuesday, November 30 by

The Fighter is the story of how boxer Irish Mickey Ward overcame his family problems to be a champion. The drama could have started all over again for the filmmakers when they got the Ward family involved with the story.

Review: The Fighter
Wednesday, November 10 by

The secret screening at AFI Film Festival was the long awaited boxing drama The Fighter. Mark Wahlberg waited four years to make this movie and it was a lot for me to take. I mean, I can handle death and despair. That’s a good time at the movies. You give me an abusive family and that’s just hopeless.

‘Welcome to the Rileys’ Trailer Brings the Uncomfortable Silences
Friday, July 9 by

James want. The trailer for Welcome to the Rileys, starring James Gandolfini, Melissa Leo, and Kristen Stewart, has been released. The film is directed by Jake Scott, son of well-known indie director Ridley Scott. It's about a couple driven apart by the death of their daughter who are brought back together when they meet a troubled young woman. Why is she troubled? She's an underage stripper. Schwing! But seriously, you guys, this is serious material. The film premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival to so-so reviews, which doesn't psych me up to see it. If those art house cinefiles waiting outside in below freezing temperatures didn't fan their wool beanies with glee as the credits rolled, I probably won't enjoy it. Also, the thought of Kristen Stewart frowning in another movie makes my cerebellum ache. Also, I'm jealous I didn't get to go to Sundance. Welcome to the Rileys hits theaters November 5, 2010. Check out the trailer after the jump.

‘Conviction’ Trailer Looks Oscar-y
Thursday, June 17 by

Fox Searchlight has released the trailer for Conviction, another one of those inspirational true stories that scream "Academy Award nominations all-around!" Hilary Swank plays a "high school dropout who spent nearly two decades working as a single mother while putting herself through law school, tirelessly trying to beat the system and overturn her brother’s unjust murder conviction." I assume the brother didn't do the crime, but Sam Rockwell's playing him so you never know. Maybe we'll get one of those Primal Fear endings. Swank spends years of her life striving to free her brother, then the instant Rockwell steps out of the prison gates he screams, "I stabbed that b*tch in the eyes!" and kicks Hilary in the stomach before stealing her broken down Taurus. Yeah… That would be awesome. Conviction gets tossed into theaters October 15, 2010. Check out the Oscar bait trailer after the jump…
