Regardless Of His Role, Danny Huston Will Get Yelled At By Nic Cage In ‘Medallion’

In his quest to find his daughter, locked in the trunk of a taxi, Nicolas Cage will have yet another ally in Danny Huston. Or enemy. We don’t know because the studio hasn’t told us in what capacity Huston is joining the film, only that he’s joining. The only conclusions I’m willing to draw is that Huston will probably not play Cage’s daughter, nor will he play Cage’s ex-girlfriend, if only because that role has been filled by Malin Akerman. Going in blind, I would a guess that he’s going to be the cab driver or a bad guy. Just a guess.

Medallion has garnered buzz on two fronts: It reunites Nicolas Cage and director Simon West for the first time since the much-loved Con Air, and it was written by screenwriter David Guggenheim, whose anticipated Safe House, starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds, is currently filming.

While the plot of Medallion is more than little reminiscent of Taken, it goes without saying that even if you were to put Liam Neeson and Nicolas Cage in projects with the exact same script, you would end up with two very different movies. One good one, and one Nicolas Cage-one, which could still be good, just louder. (Playlist)

Malin Akerman And Nic Cage Team Up To Get His Daughter Out Of A Cab Trunk

When your daughter has been kidnapped and thrown in the trunk of a taxi, you’re gonna want Malin Akerman on your side. At least, that’s what the producers of Medallion are thinking. THR is reporting that the blonde is in negotiations to star opposite Nicholas Cage in the action thriller. Cage is playing the father of the kidnapped girl, while Akerman will play his ex-girlfriend who helps him get her back.

Here’s the twist – they’re both retired thieves. So if you think that they’re going to recover Cage’s daughter without drawing upon some good ole’ fashioned thievin’ skills…then you just don’t know movies very well.

Simon West will be directing, having worked with Cage before in his debut, a quirky little thinkpiece called Con Air. Filming starts in New Orleans in March, with no release dates specified just yet.

Nicolas Cage, Mr. Loses His Sh*t himself, is about to bring more chaos to the crowded streets of Manhattan. The eccentric actor has joined the action thriller Medallion which is to be directed by Simon West. The story “follows a father, a former master thief, who has only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab.” Close your windows, urban dwellers, and bridge and tunnel folks stay home. The sound of Cage’s distress is about to reverberate through a city that needs more crazy people yelling like it needs more hot garbage stench in the air. (THR)

McG And Simon West Share A Cab For ‘Medallion’

Though it pains me to have to use Taxi Dog to break this news, there was no other way. Resoundingly mediocre film directors McG and Simon West are teaming up for Medallion. It’s rumored that Nicolas Cage or Clive Owen will star as a man who has a short amount of time to track down his kidnapped daughter, who happens to be locked in the trunk of an unidentified NYC taxi cab.

Locked in a trunk? That sounds more like a job for Marvin Berry. I guess he’s holding out for something that really cooks. McG will produce while Simon West enjoys a later call time than the rest of the crew. This unholy union can only mean one thing. The prophecy is correct. I will fall asleep on the couch while watching this on Netflix Instant. And so it shall be. (LA Times)
