In a moment that’s so very Kathie Lee, it pretty much is the culmination of her existence, here’s a clip of The Today Show in which Kathie Lee asks Martin Short how his wife’s doing.

His wife died two years ago.

As cringeworthy as the clip is (and it’s really hard to imagine more embarrassing innocent mistake on live television), he answers in a very touching way that reaffirms his love for her after raising three kids. Short even had the class not to call her out on her mistake till after the commercial, instead just talking about how much he loves her.

Aidan Quinn And Martin Short To Share The Blame For ‘Weeds’

In a move that isn’t doing much to dispel the perception that the show is increasingly all-over-the-place, “Weeds” has picked up two new guest stars. One of the added characters will be wacky, the other will be wacky only in his non-wackiness. Think about it.

Aidan Quinn will assume the role of a non-wacky “charismatic investment firm CEO.” Wow, it’s like the producers of “Weeds” are reading my dream journal. Martin Short, sadly, will not be reprising his role as Uncle Jack, the parapelegic fitness guru from”Arrested Development.” He will be playing an “eccentric attorney.” Seriously, guys. GET OUT OF MY DREAM JOURNAL!

The upcoming season of”Weeds” jumps forward three years after Nancy Botwin’s prison stint is up and she’s ready to join the outside world via a New York halfway house. The shake-up is welcome, given that the previous formulas haven’t seemed to worked well for the show in recent years. In this scenario, Aidan Quinn and Martin Short are pulling double duty in a “Cousin Oliver” role. Those adorable moppets!

Recently, Empire got John Landis, Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Chevy Chase together in one room to reconfirm that Chevy Chase remains the tallest. Outcome: he does!

While there, they also figured they may as well have a ¡Three Amigos! mini-reunion. Look how old everyone got!! Look how Steve Martin looks exactly the same!! And why is John Landis posing with his arms on his chest like that? That’s the position I imagine Martin Landau sleeps in.

Tim Burton Reveals (The Plot Of) His ‘Frankenweenie’

Director Tim Burton has been doing a lot of mucking with other people’s work in recent years, turning great stories like Alice In Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory into weird, computer generated movie-monsters. That’s why I think the upcoming Frankenweenie is a good fit for Burton right now. It’s a stop-motion animated (good) story that Burton made up (very good) about a well-meaning boy who turns his dog into a monster. (It will hopefully be cathartic.) We’ve got the official synopsis right here:

After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

Anyway, Frankenweenie will be in black-and-white, which is an interesting choice for a movie that will inevitably be aimed at color-loving families. However, Burton’s not going too unconventional, as the animated movie will be screened in Mandatory-Vision (3D). I’m still officially interested, especially with a solid voice cast that includes Winona Ryder, Martin Short and Catherine O’Hara. However, we’ve got a long way until the October 2012 release date, and Burton’s doing some stuff in the Dark Shadows with his Hot Topic BFF Johnny Depp this year.

Production on Tim Burton‘s stop-motion Frankenweenie 3D is ramping up and he’s bringing some of his besties onboard. Winona Ryder, Martin Landau, Catherine O’Hara, and Martin Short have joined as four voice actors who don’t command a Johnny Depp-sized salary.

It is surprising that Burton’s usual players, Depp and wifey Helena Bonham Carter are not attached to the project. Perhaps they’ll show up in smaller Easter Egg-ish roles. I’m sure Burton can get either to bark like a dog for the right amount of money. Or the right amount of absinthe. (Deadline)
