‘Spider-Man’ Set Pics Reveal That Uncle Ben Dies (Gasp)

If you’re the actor portraying Uncle Ben in a Spider-Man movie, the good news is that you won’t have to work many days on set before collecting your pay check.

Martin Sheen is playing the perennially dying uncle in The Amazing Spider-Man. You can see him in the set photos above with Andrew Garfield (they’re shooting in Queens), and soon he will become Peter Parker’s personal guilt ghost. In his last breathes, Uncle Ben is probably reminding Peter that “with great power comes great responsibility,” and also stating, “I totally cheated on your Aunt May… hey… don’t judge me…”

Richard Gere Update: ‘The Double’ Gets Distribution Deal

I’ve been getting hundreds of emails a day, all with the same basic message: “More Richard Gere news!” With that in mind, here’s the latest on the Richard Gere drama The Double, the debut feature from Michael Brandt: It’s been picked up by Image Entertainment, in advance of its premiere at Cannes. Here’s a plot synopsis, in case the involvement of Richard Gere isn’t enough:

“A retired CIA operative is paired with a young FBI agent to figure out who killed a senator. The clues indicate that he might have been a victim of a Soviet assassin.”

The Double also stars Topher Grace and Martin Sheen, neither of which are Richard Gere. So keep your eyes peeled, Gere fans! The Double will come to a theater near you, maybe. (Deadline)

Wow, it hasn’t been that long, but already I’m sick of Charlie Sheen. So let’s talk about a few other actors who have a chance at “winning” a lead in the most successful sitcom on TV, now that Sheen’s been sacked. Of course, it’s likely that audiences will tune away from “Two and a Half Men” without Sheen, but with so much money at stake, who can blame Warner Bros and CBS for trying to keep a terrible show alive by making it worse?

According to rumors, producer Chuck Lorre‘s shortlist includes Rob Lowe, Jerry O’Connell, and the now infamous choice of John Stamos. I’d like to see Lowe stay on”Parks and Recreation,” so I hope Lorre takes Uncle Jesse or the guy from “Sliders.” Two other candidates are his own dad, Martin Sheen – I’d love to be a fly on the wall at that Thanksgiving dinner – and noted non-male Heather Locklear. That would obviously take the show in a different direction, in which 1 out of the 2 1/2 men had a vagina.

I’d like to offer up another suggestion: a shark. Every week, Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones can jump over him. (Cinema Blend)

Martin Sheen To Play Uncle Ben In ‘Spider-man’ Reboot

If all goes as planned for the folks behind the upcoming Spider Man reboot, we’ll soon see Martin Sheen shot to death at the hands of an anonymous burglar. If we’re lucky, he might even utter a few blood-choked words of deathbed wisdom. Sheen is in the final round of talks to play Uncle Ben, Peter Parker’s former father figure-turned-corpse whose death prompts Parker to walk the streets at night in red latex. As a superhero, of course, not a whore.

Sheen will star alongside Andrew Garfield as Parker, Rhys Ifans as the film’s villain, the Lizard, and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Parker’s latest damsel in distress. Marc Webb is set to direct the reboot, with production currently slated to begin in December.
