Vera Farmiga Handling Ryan Reynolds In ‘Safe House’

The upcoming spy thriller Safe House is already in production, but that doesn’t mean new names can’t be added to the cast – even ones that are hard to spell. So it is with Vera Farmiga, who has signed on as the handler to the character played by Ryan Reynolds, “a young agent assigned to escort a dangerous criminal to safety after they are attacked at a safe house.”

She’s joining Denzel Washington, Brendan Gleeson, Sam Shepard, Robert Patrick and Liam Cunningham in the Daniel Espinosa-directed movie. She did a pretty good job playing a kind-of-similar character in Source Code, and has made a bit of a niche for herself playing professional, attractive women in thrillers like The Departed. So, good casting, Hollywood casting people! This is why they pay you the big bucks. (Deadline)

Michael Fassbender And Liam Cunningham Are Punks

Punk rock hasn’t spawned too many good movies. I can think of Control, the Ian Curtis biopic, and 24 Hour Party People. And hopefully the upcoming Good Vibrations, which will be directed by the duo of Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa, will be added to this list as well. Here’s what it’s all about, if you think you can handle this frontal assault on all the societal and aesthetic conventions you hold dear:

“‘Good Vibrations,’ which will focus on Belfast music legend Terri Hooley. Hooley founded the Good Vibrations record store on Belfast’s Great Victoria Street, from which a record label sprung, with bands like The Moondogs, The Shapes, Protex, The Outcasts and, most notably, The Undertones”

Hooley will be played by Richard Dormer. And Michael Fassbender, as part of his contractual obligation to appear in every movie, will be in it as well, along with Liam Cunningham. No word yet on who they’re going to play, but there IS word on who’s going to play the music: David Holmes, who also wrote the score for the fantastic film Hunger, also starring Michael Fassbender. T-1000 And Friends Invade Denzel Washington’s ‘Safe House’

There ain’t no party like a Safe House party, and when you throw a Safe House party, you need a whole bunch of somewhat well-known actors. That’s why Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Brendan Gleeson (the Harry Potter movies), Liam Cunningham (Clash of the Titans) and Sam Shepard (Black Hawk Down) are joining the cast of the new Denzel Washington thriller Safe House. The film is directed by Daniel Espinosa, who directed The Fighter, but not that The Fighter – a different The Fighter.

In the movie, Ryan Reynolds plays a CIA agent who needs to protect criminal Denzel Washington from assassins, after Reynold’s safe house is compromised. Will Ryan Reynolds‘ character secretly turn out to be a superhero, like all the other roles he’s been playing lately? We can only hope the Green Lantern shows up, so Hal Jordan and Alastor Moody can team up to fight T-1000. If that’s what’s gonna happen, I’ll be there opening night. (TheWrap)
