Why is she in New York, you ask? To shoot an episode of NBC’s”30 Rock!” This is good news for people who like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, cheddar cheese and pretzel Combos, and the Run DMC/Aerosmith collabo “Walk This Way.” Moretz was by FAR the best thing about Kick Ass, and “30 Rock” is all that is right with single camera sitcoms, so this appears to be a match made in showbiz heaven. There are no details on her role on the show yet, but one could speculate that she plays a gun toting vampire who murders everyone that works at the fictional sketch show “TGS.” (Vulture)

Lovers of Let The Right One In, I have some good news for you. Matt Reeves didn’t eff up the movie you cherish so dearly. In fact, he might have even improved upon it, even though you didn’t think such a feat was possible. Let Me In is both a chilling and poignant horror tale that doesn’t stray too far from the original adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel. Unfortunately that could also be what bites it in the ass.

I don’t hold Let The Right One In in such high regard, which is probably a positive for Let Me In viewing. I didn’t go into the theater with a chip on my shoulder or a demand to be proven wrong. What impressed me most about Let Me In were the once again compelling performances by a new cast of actors. Kodi Smit-McPhee (the boy from The Road) plays Owen, an introverted kid who’s dealing with his parents’ spiteful divorce at home and the torment of masochistic bullies at school. How he walks straight after the wedge they lay on him, I’m still trying to decipher.

Abby (Chloe Moretz) arrives at Owen’s apartment complex just in the nick of time, when he’s running low and friends and options for surviving in the locker room. The two twelve-year-olds (more or less that age, in Abby’s case) form an immediate connection on the snow-topped playground equipment in the courtyard. Owen finds it odd that Abby walks barefoot without the consequence of losing her toes, but that doesn’t stop him from opening up to her about his troubles and handing over his Rubix cube.

The troubles that plague Abby are kept from Owen, and rightly so. Her caregiver (Richard Jenkins) forges out into the Los Alamos, New Mexico cold nightly to find his vampire cross to bear some blood. But he’s getting sloppy, and what are supposed to be quick drain jobs turn into unmitigated disasters. Jenkins does a terrific job as the browbeaten, exhausted custodian of a demanding vampire child. Abby lays into him when he fails to deliver, but she can hardly be held accountable for her intense desire to drink to survive.

As Owen and Abby get closer, the bodies around them pile up, forcing the Policeman (Elias Coteas) to delve deeper into the strange happenings around town. Coteas plays the role well, but seems just as morose and tired as Jenkins. Perhaps seasonal depression is running just as rampant as vampires are in N.M.

Director and writer Matt Reeves doesn’t shy away from the emotional complexity or intense violence that made the Let The Right One In such a standout film in the genre. Alright, maybe he doesn’t shine a light on Abby’s absence of sex organs, but I promise you won’t miss that fact as much as I’m sure she does. Staying so true to the original adaptation begs the question if a remake was even necessary, but considering most remakes aren’t, I’d mar Let Me In as both a successful and worthwhile one. If you’re a fan of the material, you’ll remain a fan. If you’re brand new to it, you should find yourself drawn to Reeves’s take. If you like vampires that sparkle, the copious amounts of blood and character depth in Let Me In may frighten you.

I know a lot of uppity Internet types have been taking to their Geocities fan pages to voice concerns about the upcoming film, Let Me In. Many fear that the film will suck, at least compared to the Swedish original, Let the Right One In. Well after viewing this new trailer, complete with more of Elias Koteas’ mustache, it looks like the only way this film will suck will be in the good, vampire sort of way. That’s not to say it will suck in a Vampires Suck sort of way, which is bad, but more in an Interview with a Vampire way, which is good. Confused? Just watch the clip and shut up. (Cinema Blend)

Watch the new Let Me In trailer not suck in a bad way after the jump…

I'm not a big fan of ruining movies for myself by watching clips, but I'm glad I sucked it up and hit play on this new one for Let Me In. Now I for seriously can't wait to check out this film at Fantastic Fest. I know a few of you out there are pissed that they remade the Swedish version, but c'mon, it's got Richard Jenkins in it. The man can do no wrong. Except for Say It Isn't So, and even in that film he's covered in bees WAY better than Nic Cage ever was.
Take a look at the clip after the jump and see if it changes your skeptical mind...

Sweet stache, Elias!
Finally, a Hollywood project that involves vampires.

Let Me In, directed by Cloverfield's Matt Reeves, is the story of a awkward boy who unknowingly befriends a young vampire girl. Of course by "young," I mean "young looking." She's probably hundreds of years old since she's a goddamn vampire.

At any rate, before too long, people end up getting drained of their blood, the local law enforcement starts to take notice, and this kid realizes his new friend is a monster. I'm sure it ends with the two of them being elected king and queen at the big middle school dance.

If you like the vampire genre, you'll probably like this. If not, you'll still be able to enjoy Elias Koteas with a mustache, which looks awesome.

Watch the Let Me In trailer after the jump...

Chloe Moretz is back as another bloodthirsty tween in this teaser for Matt Reeves' Let The Right One In remake, Let Me In. Kodi Smit-McPhee stars as a bullied boy who befriends his new neighbor, a vampire child who keeps busy by eating members of the community. That's definitely a dick move, but not as bad as my neighbor who keeps stealing my parking space. That jerk deserves to be staked. LOOKS PRETTY SOLID TO ME. CHECK IT OUT AFTER THE JUMP AND LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK...

I don't feel all that comfortable sharing pictures of children on the Internet, but I am only here to serve and people have been eager to get a look at Matt Reeves' Let Me In. Though, for my own piece of mind, I'd like to ask that all perverts direct their lustfull eyeballs elsewhere and not at these first pics from the maligned remake of Let The Right One In. If you're willing to view responsibly, you can get a better look at Kick-Ass's Chloe Moretz as Abby the vampire girl and Kodi Smit-McPhee as her new friend Owen, in the pictures after the jump. And please sign the guestbook.
