Seth Meyers To Take Over ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’; Carson Daly Still Just Doing The Same Thing

With Jay Leno leaving The Tonight Show for real this time and Jimmy Fallon taking over those hosting duties, NBC has confirmed suspicions that Seth Meyers will replace Fallon as Late Night host. “It always seemed like a logical next move,” says the SNL veteran and Weekend Update host. “It was just competing with the very emotional idea of leaving a place I have been for a very long time. But if you are going to do that, it seems like you might as well just move a hallway or two.” Makes sense. He probably won’t even need to hire movers.

Meyers will wrap up SNL’s fall season before moving to Late Night this winter, and then probably return to SNL when Leno decides he’s not giving up The Tonight Show after all. (NY Times)

One year later, Conan O’Brien has made some kind of angry peace with Jay Leno, but Howard Stern recently Jaywalked all up in the Tonight Show host’s freakish chin. The skeezy shock jock pulled no punches on an upcoming interview for CNN‘s Piers Morgan Tonight, calling Leno “insane,” which definitely means something from a man who once dressed up in ass-less spandex in front of millions and called himself “Fartman.” He also says Leno is “a crook,” which would mean Leno is incapable of coming up with his own consistently mediocre-to-terrible material.

Stern also took a big dump on Leno’s audience too:

“He’s not fit to scrub David Letterman‘s feet,” he goes on. “I don’t know how he’s beaten David Letterman in the ratings. It’s beyond my comprehension. America must be filled with morons who at night lay in bed — the ones who are watching him, they must be in a coma.”

When the Conan controversy erupted, I really hated Leno. Now that it’s all died down, I don’t know… it’s not that I think he’s even remotely amusing. It’s just that he’s so milquetoast, it’s hard for me to feel anything about him. I have no strong like or dislike of Wonder Bread, Matthew Sweet or the Toyota Camry either – they just kind of are. However, if Stern wants to spend the energy to hate him, I wish “The King of All Media That’s Satellite Radio” lots of luck. (Hollywood Reporter)

Kudos to you, Mar Paul Gosselaar, for being able to make fun of yourself. Kudos, to you, sir! Last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Mark Paul Gosselaar, currently starring in "Raising the Bar" on TNT, showed up in full "Saved By the Bell" Zach Morris regalia, and did a classic Zach Morris direct-address to camera. It was kind of uncanny how much he can still pull off Bayside High’s coolest student ever. The phone you coul choke a horse with played no small part in selling it. Say what you want about Jimmy Fallon as a host. He’s still finding his legs. But you can’t deny he and his team of writers – including head staffer A.D. Miles from "The State" – are coming up with some material that rivals Conan’s Late Night crew.
