His transformation into Rainn Wilson is near complete. Parks & Recreation actor Nick Offerman has joined Diablo Cody’s directorial debut, which was formerly known as Lamb Of God.

The film centers around Julianne Hough‘s young Christian girl who loses her faith after being badly burned. With her moral center gone, she travels to Vegas to live a sinful life. Meeting Octavia Spencer, Russell Brand, and Holly Hunter along the way. We can also assume she crosses paths with Offerman, whose role is as yet undisclosed. Alls I know is it will be weird to hear him say “home skillet.” (Deadline)

The type of people that dislike Diablo Cody’s cinematic sensibilities are probably also not the biggest Russell brand fans, so I’m going to offer up this news, then duck behind this couch for a while, if that’s ok. Brand has been offered the part of William, the male protagonist, in the Cody’s next effort, Lamb of God.

Not much is known about the film’s presence beyond this logline:

The comedy follows a young conservative religious woman who loses her faith after a plane crash, decides to go to Las Vegas to live the life of a sinner, and on her journey finds her way back to her faith.

With that in mind, I’m seeing Brand as more of a Sin City stalwart than her good ole’ boy back home. The female lead, which will be the bigger part because, c’mon, it’s Diablo Cody, hasn’t been ID’d yet, though Twitch is saying that the frontrunner is Dancing with the Stars contestant and Ryan Seacrest girlfriend Julianne Hough. She sounds…like…she would…be a very…nice addition to this project.

Diablo Cody To Step Behind The Camera For ‘Lamb Of God’

Diablo “Former Stripper” Cody has decided to make the leap from screenwriting to directing with the upcoming feature Lamb of God. Between this and her re-teaming with Jason Reitman, she must have cast some mystical spell over studios that made them forget that her last film was Jennifer’s Body. Lamb of God will track a young religious woman as she survives a plane crash, only to lose her faith, then trek to Vegas where she becomes all drink-y and whorish, only to reclaim her faith.

Of course, Cody’s breakout script was Juno, directed by Jason Reitman, with whom she again teamed for the upcoming Young Adult, which Reitman is currently filming. She hasn’t been able to step out from the shadow of her Oscar-winning Juno, but if she can’t strike gold a second time with Reitman, then her destiny is in her own hands with Lamb. If she is able to recreate that Juno magic, we might not forget about Jennifer’s Body, but it will lessen the damage done.
