<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/kristen-wiig-45/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Kristen Wiig</a> takes a touch of the terrible roommate storyline from <em>Bridesmaids</em> and expands it into an entire film. However, <em>Girl Most Likely</em> seems to go in more of a <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/dramedy/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>dramedy</a> route than the pooping in the middle of the street route. Which is cool, I guess.</p>
<p>Here Wiig once again plays a down on her luck woman surrounded by crazy people. In this case, they are her trashy mother played by Annette Bening, and <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/matt-dillon-599/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Matt Dillon</a> as her mom&#8217;s pathological liar boyfriend CIA Agent George Bousche. Our country is in safe hands.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The teaser for <em>Anchorman 2</em> promises two things &#8212; the original cast are returning, and things are going to get schtanky. Since this is a Judd Apatow-produced film, we should probably anticipate a large number of comedy cameos.</p>
<p>Backing up that assumption comes news that <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/kristen-wiig-45/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Kristen Wiig</a> is being eyed to play a love interest &#8212; for mentally-disabled weatherman Brick Tamland. The deal hasn&#8217;t been finalized yet, but Wiig would crush in that role. Although we&#8217;re horrified to see what Wiig will bring to the table. How does one top this:</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/where-will-the-stars-go-after-community-is-canceled/" target="_blank">Yesterday</a> I wondered aloud what fate would befall the cast of <em>Community</em> when <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/nbc-490/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>NBC</a> inevitably screws up and cancels it. I supposed that <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-lists/the-independent-spirit-awards-aka-the-hipster-oscars-explained/" target="_blank">Jim Rash</a> would spin his <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/oscar/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Oscar</a> gold into more <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/script/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>script</a> sales and that&#8217;s exactly what&#8217;s happening. I should play the lotto.</p>
<p>Rash and <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/writing/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>writing</a> partner, Nat Faxon (aka <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/broken-lizard-155/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Broken Lizard</a>&#8216;s Hair Pie), have sold an untitled action-comedy with thier former Groundling buddy, <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/gallery/kristen-wiig/" target="_blank">Kristen Wiig</a>, attached to star. And that&#8217;s about all that we know. I&#8217;m hoping that it will be a big budget <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/parody-357/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>parody</a> of <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/terminator-41/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Terminator</a> 2: Judgment Day, but that seems like a longs<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/hot-510/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>hot</a>. However, we can assume that the <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/film/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>film</a> will be way better than those <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/katherine-heigl-288/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Katherine Heigl</a> bounty hunter arrests a hot dude movies. We know with all certainty that is fact. (<a href="http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118050850.html?cmpid=RSS%7CNews%7CLatestNews" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Variety</a>)</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Looks like the burgeoning <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/movie/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>movie</a> careers of <em><a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/snl-movie-spinoff-success/" target="_blank">Saturday Night Live</a></em> <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/cast/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>cast</a> members are forcing the <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/show/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>show</a> to hire some new faces for us to unfairly criticize (at least until they impress us with their <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/mitt-romney/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Mitt Romney</a> impressions). <a href="http://splitsider.com/2012/02/snl-looking-to-add-new-castmembers-held-auditions-this-week-in-nyc" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Splitsider</a> reports that a range of hopefuls from <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/new-york/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>New York</a>, <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/chicago/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Chicago</a>, and <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/los-angeles/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Los Angeles</a> recently auditioned for <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/lorne-michaels-sees-more-30-rock-with-or-without-alec-baldwin/" target="_blank">Lorne Michaels</a>, Seth Myers, and other <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/producers/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>producers</a>.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s unclear how many new performers will join the cast or which performers will be departing, but it would make sense that <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/kristen-wiig-45/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Kristen Wiig</a> would move on to more carefully chosen projects while <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/jason-sudeikis-625/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Jason Sudeikis</a> will take the horny guy role in literally every upcoming <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/comedy-152/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>comedy</a>.</p>

<description><![CDATA[Annette Bening is about to find out that taking care of crazy ole' Wiig is a full-time job. ]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Every suicidal playwright needs a mom, and, in<em><a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/kristen-wiig-lines-up-dream-project-imogene/" target="_blank"> Imogene</a></em>, <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/kristen-wiig-and-anna-faris-both-want-sacha-baron-cohens-dictator/" target="_blank">Kristen Wiig&#8217;s</a> character just found one in Annette Bening. In the film, Kirsten Wiig fakes suicide in order to win back an ex-boyfriend, only to find herself relegated to the custody of her <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/gambling/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>gambling</a> addict mother. Hilarity, <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/heartbreak/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>heartbreak</a>, and self-improvement ensue, no doubt.</p>
<p>While Annette Bening is no stranger to the world of drama, <em>Imogene </em>will mark Wiig&#8217;s Hollywood debut into the genre, having made a name for herself in smaller, quirkier supporting roles in the <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/apatow-112/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Apatow</a> universe, only to find herself landing squarely in the A-list after her starring turn in this year&#8217;s <em>Bridesmaids</em>.</p>
<p><em>Imogene</em> will be directed by the <em>American Splendor</em> duo of Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, so expect the humor dry and sparse. Does <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/kristen-wiig-45/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Kristen Wiig</a> have that in her? The good news is that if she doesn&#8217;t, we know that Annette Bening does.</p>

Plans backfire when her plan forces her back into the care of her gambling-addicted mother.</p>
<p>The <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/directing/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>directing</a> team behind <em>American Splendor</em>, <em>The Extra Man</em>, and <em>The Nanny Diairies</em>, Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, are set to direct from a script by Michelle Morgan. Wiig has considered <em>Imogene</em> a passion project for the last couple years and, in fact, mentioned it to us when we interviewed her about <em>MacGruber</em>. It was in that same interview that we learned <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/breaking-will-fortes-ass-celery-stolen-on-macgruber-set/" target="_blank">somebody stole Will Forte&#8217;s ass celery</a>. <p>I thought the gags in <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/weekend-box-office-report-pretty-good-for-a-girl/" target="_blank">Bridesmaids</a>, gross-out and otherwise, were hilarious. However, I lost interest during the (endless) 45 minute <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/bridesmaids/" target="_blank">Kristen Wiig</a> pity party. &#8220;Boo hoo, I won&#8217;t call the guy I like.&#8221; Just keep the joke-em-ups coming, please.<br />
<div id='post_in_video' class='post_in_video'><a class='img' href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/video/melissa-mccarthy-reveals-that-she-was-channeling-guy-fieri-in-bridesmaids/' title='Melissa McCarthy Reveals That She Was Channeling Guy Fieri In 'Bridesmaids''><span></span><img width='200' height='150' src='http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/mccarthy-fieri-220x165.jpg'></a><h3><a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/video/melissa-mccarthy-reveals-that-she-was-channeling-guy-fieri-in-bridesmaids/'>Melissa McCarthy Reveals That She Was Channeling Guy Fieri In 'Bridesmaids'</a></h3></div><br />
That&#8217;s why I&#8217;m excited to share the video above from <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/the-monopoly-movie-trailer-is-somewhat-here/" target="_blank">Funny or Die</a>, which is a compilation of unused takes from the movie. It&#8217;s rapid fire improvs/cut lines from <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/jon-hamms-soup-is-done-in-bridesmaids-red-band-trailer/" target="_blank">Jon Hamm</a>, <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/melissa-mccarthy/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Melissa McCarthy</a>, plus the eventually underused <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/ellie-kemper-241/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Ellie Kemper</a> and Wendi McLendon-Covey. I especially lol&#8217;d at the Hamm sex bookends, where things get wackier than in the original cut. I like wackier <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/jon-hamm-941/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Jon Hamm</a>. The guy has gravitas to spare, so let him make a butt cheeks joke every once in awhile, <em"<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/shows/mad-men' target='_blank'>Mad Men</a>.&#8221;</em></p>

Who says women can&#8217;t be funny? No, seriously, who is saying that? I&#8217;ve never heard anyone say that.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/queen-biopic-ramping-up/" target="_blank">Sacha Baron Cohen</a> is holding court to determine who will be in his latest movie <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/sacha-baron-cohens-the-dictator-gets-a-release-date/" target="_blank"><em>The Dictator</em></a>. The following actors will try to curry Cohen&#8217;s favor, and have their rivals&#8230; eliminated.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/see-how-the-trailer-for-%e2%80%98what%e2%80%99s-your-number%e2%80%99-ranks/" target="_blank">Anna Faris</a>, <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/jon-hamms-soup-is-done-in-bridesmaids-red-band-trailer/" target="_blank">Kristen Wiig</a> and &#8220;Community&#8221; star <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/community-actress-gillian-jacobs/" target="_blank">Gillian Jacobs</a> are all vying for the female lead. Wiig is doing so with awkward line readings and tiny plastic hands. However, Cohen and his producers are still looking around, so a three-way cat fight between them might be for naught. Well, you might be able to sell the DVD of the fight itself, at least.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Jason Mantzoukas &#8220;<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/shows/the-league' target='_blank'>The League</a>&#8220;) is in negotiations to play the sidekick to Cohen&#8217;s lead. Apparently his ability to improvise, or &#8220;generate top-of-the-head make-&#8217;em-ups,&#8221; as theater people call it, is highly valued for this loosely scripted movie. The plot is described as &#8220;the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.&#8221; I&#8217;m sure <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/paramount-657/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Paramount</a> is just wondering how big the merchandising potential will be, and whether or not we see a penis swinging around on-screen, up close.</p>
<p><a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/larry-charles-60/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Larry Charles</a> (<em>Borat</em>, <em>Bruno</em>), an important member of the Cohen Crew, returns to direct.</p>

<description><![CDATA[In case you didn't think these bridesmaids were rough-and-tumble...they are. This trailer has the ribald language to prove it.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The red-band trailer for <em><a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/Bridesmaids' target='_blank'>Bridesmaids</a>-poster-the-romcom-gods-are-smiling/&#8221; target=&#8221;_blank&#8221;>Bridesmaids</a></em> is not terribly different than the green (mauve?)-band trailer, save for three f-bombs, some scattered &#8220;shits&#8221; (not as <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/gross/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>gross</a> as it sounds), <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/kristen-wiig-45/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Kristen Wiig</a> in a bra, and a reference to a fat lady&#8217;s undercarriage.</p>
<p>Other than that, we&#8217;re still rocking ladies with gas, fat chick talking about fight clubs, and a bunch of other instances of girls acting like guys, only girlier.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s also some shots of <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/jon-hamm-is-smooth-in-bridesmaids-international-trailer/" target="_blank">Jon Hamm</a>, mid-coitus, which you should find just delightful, regardless of your sexual orientation. He also says &#8220;soup&#8217;s done&#8221; in a reference to reaching climax, which I have never heard before, and hope to never hear again.</p>
<p><a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/bridesmaids' target='_blank'>Bridesmaids</a> will completely eff with your sensibilities, in a charming, middle-America way on May 13th.</p>

<description><![CDATA[I find his attitude refreshingly European.]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/apatow-lifts-the-veil-on-bridesmaids-trailer/" target="_blank"><em>Bridesmaids</em></a> isn&#8217;t through trying to convince you that it&#8217;s actually secretly funny. A new <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/international-trailer-532/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>international trailer</a> has begun to swim its way across the pond and this one plays to <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/jon-hamm-too-close-to-death-to-play-superman/" target="_blank">Jon Hamm</a>&#8216;s strengths&#8230; being a total dick to women.</p>
<p>In this trailer, we see Hamm do his careful best to dismiss <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/kristen-wiig-45/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Kristen Wiig</a> after a night of hot, steamy, bra-on sex (Hollywood&#8217;s favorite kind). But we shouldn&#8217;t <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/rush/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>rush</a> to judge. Perhaps he just needs to fart really badly. Sometimes that happens to fellas. Especially if they aren&#8217;t careful about what they eat the night before. Damn you, Nestle Flipz!!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/Paul' target='_blank'>Paul</a>-movie-still.jpg&#8221;><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-201198" title="paul-movie-still" src="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/paul-movie-still.jpg" alt='' width="550" height="315" /></a></p>
<p>SXSW screened <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-review/sxsw-review-paul/" target="_blank"><em>Paul</em></a> and <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-review/sxsw-review-<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/Bridesmaids' target='_blank'>Bridesmaids</a>-work-print/&#8221; target=&#8221;_blank&#8221;><em>Bridesmaids</em></a> as a double bill because Kristin Wiig is in both and Universal released both. So the stars and filmmakers of both films walked the red carpet in Austin, TX outside the Paramount theater.</p>
<p>In <em>Paul</em>, Kristin Wiig plays Ruth Buggs, a trailer park owner who gets a glimpse at the alien in Graeme (Simon Pegg) and Clive (Nick Frost)’s trailer. With her Christian creationist world shattered, Ruth takes every opportunity to swear along the road. <em>Bridesmaids</em> stars Wiig as a maid of honor in crazy wedding shenanigans.</p>
<p>Q: Did you enjoy playing this silly swearing girl?</p>
<p>Kristen Wiig: No… [pretends to walk away] I’m just kidding. What if I did that? It’d be horrible. Yes, oh my God, it was so nice to have them write a character that had that trait and someone that went through such a crazy transformation after seeing an alien.</p>
<p>Q: Is the reason it’s funny that it’s her first time, this awakening of her?</p>
<p>KW: Yes, first time seeing an alien as opposed to other people who’ve been revisited.</p>
<p>Q: I think it’s her first time swearing, because she was so devoutly religious before.</p>
<p>KW: Oh, first time swearing, yes, because she thought that was sinning and then when she sees the alien, she comes to the conclusion: well, maybe if there’s an alien, there’s no god and there’s no sinning, I can do whatever I want.</p>
<p>Q: What will we see in <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/bridesmaids' target='_blank'>Bridesmaids</a>?</p>
<p>KW: There’s no aliens that I can tell you about. I’m really excited. Judd <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/apatow-112/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Apatow</a> produced it and <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/paul' target='_blank'>Paul</a> Feig directed it. I co-wrote it with my friend Annie. There’s a lot of funny ladies in it.</p>
<p>Q: When you’re writing a character for yourself, what sort of vehicle do you want to create?</p>
<p>KW: I tried not to think of myself playing it so much when we wrote it because I didn’t want to cloud how I was writing the character that much. I just wanted to write something that made sense and had a lot of good parts for females.</p>
<p>Q: Do you have a unique take on the bridesmaid phenomenon?</p>
<p>KW: Well, you’ll have to see the movie.</p>
<p><a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/simon-pegg-89/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Simon Pegg</a> plays Graeme, a sci-fi artist and Comic-Con fan who meets the real alien, Paul. He co-wrote the script with Frost and loaded it with references to our favorite mutual <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/sci-fi-movies-603/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>sci-fi movies</a>. He was cagey about Mission: Impossible IV which he’s already shot and A World’s End which he’s writing with <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/edgar-wright-952/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Edgar Wright</a>, but actually had more to say about <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/star-trek-724/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Star Trek</a> 2 which doesn’t exist in any form yet.</p>
<p>Q: Are we seeing your comedy grou <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/break' target='_blank'>break</a> up into different combinations, like we saw the Pythons do where some of them did A Fish Called Wanda but not the whole troupe?</p>
<p>Simon Pegg: Yeah, I guess. I don’t know what our comedy team is. The Pythons were a unit that came out of a comedy troupe from university whereas we’ve all met at different times. I think we can probably split up with less obviousness. Nick and I have worked together a lot because we’re best mates and probably will continue to do so because it’s a way we can hang out. But I really want to work with people like Kristin and Bill [Hader] and Jason [Bateman] and those guys. I love them so it’s a treat to be able to.</p>
<p>Q: But you, Nick and Edgar are a group.</p>
<p>SP: Well, Edgar had developed <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/scott-pilgrim-936/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Scott Pilgrim</a> and we knew that we wouldn’t be doing that with him because it was a separate project. Paul was a separate project from Edgar so we always were going to go off and do our own little side projects and come back together again.</p>
<p>Q: What is the obsession with a three breasted woman?</p>
<p>SP: It’s just one more, isn’t it, than you should have. I think it’s one of those sort of slightly lame sort of sci-fi clichés, that guys would think one more would be somehow better than too. It’s odd.</p>
<p>Q: Even in Total Recall he said he wished he had three hands. But we don’t.</p>
<p>SP: I think Jo LoTruglio says, “You should’ve given her four” which then becomes, I say, sick.</p>
<p>Q: I love that you were so decisive about it.</p>
<p>SP: Well, then you become some sort of wolfmother. It’s just weird. Three’s good, four is terrible. It’s the old saying, isn’t it?</p>
<p>Q: We do love the collaborations between you, Nick and Edgar. Is A World’s End your take on the apocalypse genre?</p>
<p>SP: No, it’s nothing yet. It’s just a title that we’ve thrown out there to shut people up.</p>
<p>Q: When do you actually get to start working on that?</p>
<p>SP: Hopefully in the next couple of months we’ll start writing it. It’s just a question of getting together.</p>
<p>Q: Do you get cool stuff to do in Mission: Impossible IV?</p>
<p>SP: Yes, I do. That’s all I can say.</p>
<p>Q: Obviously Scotty was the last one to join the crew in Star Trek. Obviously you don’t know what the next script will be yet but are you excited to be there from the beginning?</p>
<p>SP: Absolutely. I can’t wait. It’s a great crew. We all got on very well and I can’t wait to get back into that thing of getting to know each other. I think they’ll pick up the story from where we left off and we’ve all only just met so there’s a lot of mileage I would imagine dramatically in us all sort of getting to know each other.</p>
<p><a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/paul-feig-913/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Paul Feig</a> was a regular director on “Arrested Development” and he still does major TV shows like “Nurse Jackie” and “The Office.” <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/bridesmaids/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Bridesmaids</a> is his second movie, and he’s technically not done making it yet.</p>
<p>Q: What are we going to get to see tonight in Bridesmaids?</p>
<p>Paul Feig: You’re going to see everything. They’re calling it a work in progress but really it’s all locked. It’s just we haven’t done the sound mix or the color timing on it yet but it’s a big funny comedy that’s about women but is not just for women. We really worked hard to just make it funny for everybody but it’s a very grounded emotional story about a woman whose life is falling apart. This event just speeds that along but it allows her to rebuild herself to a better place.</p>
<p>Q: A lot of wedding movies are about “this is all crazy, but you should still do it everyone, everyone still have big weddings.” What’s the worldview of your movie?</p>
<p>PF: For us, honestly the wedding is just a conduit to tell the story of a woman who’s having problems with her best friend. It’s much less about the wedding and more about how important your friends are to you. The wedding allows it to be the ticking clock that moves it forward but at the end of the day, it’s really about friendship.</p>
<p>Q: What will be the standout comic set pieces?</p>
<p>PF: Oh, you will definitely be talking about the dress shop, I guarantee you that. You’ll be talking about the airplane, I guarantee you that and about Annie trying to get the cop’s attention at the end of the movie.</p>
<p>Q: Do you have a great trying on dresses <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/montage-855/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>montage</a>?</p>
<p>PF: Well, we do but we’ve subverted it a little bit so you’ll go into it thinking you know what’s going to happen and then you will be very pleasantly surprised.</p>
<p>Q: Will Julia Roberts be pissed at you?</p>
<p>PF: That’s my goal. That is my goal. Hopefully she will say, “Yes, ah, why didn’t I think of that?”</p>
<p>Paul is in theaters now. Bridesmaids hits May 13.</p>

<description><![CDATA[Follows the same plot as all “outrageous wedding” movies.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/bridesmaids' target='_blank'>bridesmaids</a>-movie-gals.jpg&#8221;><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-201447" title="bridesmaids-movie-gals" src="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/bridesmaids-movie-gals.jpg" alt='' width="600" height="<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/300/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>300</a>&#8221; /></a></p>
<p>The work print screening of <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/apatow-lifts-the-veil-on-bridesmaids-trailer/" target="_blank"><em>Bridesmaids</em></a> played well at <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/sxsw-504/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>SXSW</a>, but I wasn’t into it. It’s actually the first movie of the festival I haven’t liked, so it probably feels like a harsher letdown.</p>
<p>It opens funny with <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/annie/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Annie</a> (<a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/how-to-train-your-dragon-actress-kristen-wiig/" target="_blank">Kristin Wiig</a>) having outrageous sex with Ted (Jon Hamm). Annie speaks in the stream of consciousness rambling that Wiig peppers with humor each time she adds a phrase. Once her best friend Lillian (Maya Rudolph) gets engaged, it becomes the typical wedding movie.</p>
<p>All the other <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/bridesmaids/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>bridesmaids</a> are contrived one-dimensional types. Rita (Wendi McLendon-Covey) complains about her obnoxious sons and husband.  Becca (Ellie Kemper) is the lovey dovey newlywed. Megan is a butch type. Helen (Rose Byrne) is just so perfect it drives Annie crazy.</p>
<p>Wiig pretty much stops doing the Kristin Wiig thing in order to serve a generic, clichéd plot. She does a dance when Officer Rhodes pulls her over but stops the random phrases and tones down the physicality, so you don’t get a Kristin Wiig movie after all.</p>
<p>The big problem with the premise is that jealousy is not funny. Helen outshines Annie’s wedding plans and the film follows the same plot as all “outrageous wedding” movies. At the engagement toast, the dress fittings, the <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/bachelorette/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>bachelorette</a> party and bridal shower, Helen comes up with crazy plans that take over Annie’s sincere ones.</p>
<p>Helen’s manipulative usurping isn’t funny though. She has connections to a fancy dress shop. She wants to take the girls to Las Vegas. She has a fancy mansion with a fondue fountain. The only joke is that Annie is insecure that Helen’s more superficially impressive than she is.</p>
<p><em>Bridesmaids </em>might coast if it was just generic, but it drags out so long it forces you to work it out. Directo <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/paul' target='_blank'>Paul</a> Feig said that “work print” only meant they had color timing and sound issues to polish. He should really consider taking 30 minutes out, because there’s so much plot. At a certain point you realize while Annie’s working out her relationship with Office Rhodes, hey, they still have to have a wedding to wrap this sucker up.</p>
<p>I like Kristin Wiig a lot. I think her physicality is phenomenal and her attitude is sweet. She doesn’t seem to make jokes at anyone’s expense. She just enjoys being silly. <em>Bridesmaids </em>doesn’t feel like her, and she wrote it herself!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/Paul' target='_blank'>Paul</a>-movie-still.jpg&#8221;><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-201198" title="paul-movie-still" src="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/paul-movie-still.jpg" alt='' width="550" height="315" /></a></p>
<p><em><a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/new-paul-trailer-now-with-comedy/" target="_blank">Paul</a> </em>is like all those comedies I used to like, the kind where they were just plain good. They had a little of everything and just worked. That makes it harder to write about since there’s no hook except overall solid work, but I’m up to the task.</p>
<p>Graeme (Simon Pegg) and Clive (Nick Frost) are Brits visiting Comic-Con. On the road to Area 51, they meet an actual alien <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/paul' target='_blank'>Paul</a> (Seth Rogen). Paul needs their help but won’t tell them much at first. At an RV park, they pick up Ruth Buggs (Kristen Wiig), a devout Catholic who experiences an awakening when she witnesses the existence of Paul. Agents Zoil (Jason Bateman), O’Reilly (Joe Lo Truglio) and Haggard (Bill Hader) are on their tail.</p>
<p>Pegg and Frost, who wrote the script, deliver on all the sci-fi, comic book and general movie references you’d hope for. You’ll hear familiar music, lines of dialogue and even a reference to spoilers themselves, incorporated seamlessly into the narrative. Try to catch the obscure <em>Capturing the Friedmans</em> joke. It’s not all mainstream. Clive and Graeme also recreate some familiar action moments that I just know Frost and Pegg were saving since <em>Hot Fuzz</em> (the age old “grab my hand” bit.)</p>
<p>It’s not ALL sci-fi, so there’s plenty to amuse general audiences, although it never sells out the target audience for a mainstream laugh. They do sex jokes, drugs jokes and some good old fashioned immaturity, mooning through windshields and swearing creatively. I love the running gags. Whenever a joke happens more than once, it’s instantly funnier to me.</p>
<p>Paul is a great character. He’s the everyman alien so he gets indignant about alien clichés, and he has base needs like anyone. The CGI looks real and interactive with the scene and characters. It never feels like they had to construct a scene to fit the effect. Clive and Graeme are delightful, childish foreigners and Ruth has a sweet arc in between Wiig-y profanity outbursts, which are also awesome.</p>
<p>Like the classic comedies, there’s a bit of depth with Paul confronting Ruth’s creationist beliefs. Paul actually heals Ruth, which is sweet considering at that point in the story he hates her. Is it predictable? Yes, in that I knew where the story was going, but I’d also call that paying off. Most importantly, it’s all funny.</p>

<description><![CDATA[Comic-Con, secret government alien (?) weed, girl-on-robot sex: these are the topics that all movies should be discuss.]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We&#8217;ve got some new clips from Team <em>Hot Fuzz</em>&#8216;s upcoming film <em><a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/new-paul-trailer-crash-lands-on-the-internet/">Paul</a> (</em>courtesy of British sites Empire and Sky). <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/simon-pegg-89/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Simon Pegg</a> and Nick Frost never fail to disappoint, though I have to admit, I&#8217;ve had my doubts about this project. No <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/edgar-wright-starts-up-again-on-ant-man/">Edgar Wright</a> directing, an alien that&#8217;s just <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/oy-vey-rogan-and-streisand-to-film-road-trip-movie/">Seth Rogen</a> as an alien (they could have slapped some antennae on him and saved a space ton of CG money) and a big part for <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/apatow-lifts-the-veil-on-bridesmaids-trailer/">Kristen Wiig</a>, the SNL cast member who I&#8217;ve fast-forwarded past so many times, my TiVO does it for me now.</p>
<p>However, in these clips, I can see the elements working together nicely. Comic-Con, secret government alien (?) weed, girl-on-robot sex: these are the topics that all movies should discuss. Plus director <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/new-paul-trailer-now-with-comedy/">Greg Mottola</a> shot <em>Superbad</em>, which I continue to <em>McLovin</em>, despite how dated that reference has already become.</p>
<p><em>Paul</em> will beam you into theaters March 18. (<a href="http://www.joblo.com/index.php?id=35864" rel="nofollow">JoBlo</a>)</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: center;">
<p style="text-align: left;">Judd Apatow&#8217;s first foray into &#8220;you go, girl!,&#8221; comedy <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/bridesmaids-poster-the-romcom-gods-are-smiling/" target="_blank"><em>Bridesmaids</em></a> has its first trailer and it looks&#8230; okay. <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/kristen-wiig-45/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Kristen Wiig</a> has proven her comedic chops with her roles in <em>The 40-Year Old Virgin</em> and <em>MacGruber</em> and by making repetitive noises on &#8220;SNL.&#8221; I&#8217;m happy to see her stepping into the lead.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The supporting cast looks funny too. You&#8217;ve got the fat one, the neurotic one, the horny one, and the bitch. Just like at your office. More importantly though, this trailer features what every trailer should &#8212; tuxedo-clad yawning puppies. Can we re-do the DGA Awards?</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I was a little let down when I saw the original UK trailer for <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/greg-mottola-317/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Greg Mottola</a>&#8216;s <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/new-paul-trailer-crash-lands-on-the-internet/" target="_blank"><em>Paul</em></a>. With all the poop jokes and nut shots, it felt a little too <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/photobomb-fridays-kangaroo-jack-kangaroos/" target="_blank"><em>Kangaroo Jack</em></a> for my tastes. But after viewing this domestic trailer, I&#8217;m looking forward to seeing this. U-S-A! U-S-A!!</p>
<p><a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/i-am' target='_blank'>I am</a> a little concerned about <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/seth-rogen-blows-sht-up-in-first-official-look-at-the-green-hornet/" target="_blank">Seth Rogen</a> though. I heard he was trying to slim down but I think he&#8217;s gone too far. His skin is all pale, and his eyes are so bugged out. Not to mention the total lack of body hair. I&#8217;m afraid that whatever crash diet he subjected himself to, just wasn&#8217;t the healthiest route to go. And all for what? To see his name up in lights?? Sadly, another victim of the Fame Monster.</p>

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have teamed up in the past to take on horror and the action genre, now they&#039;ve set their sights on sci-fi. As this teaser for Paul will show you, the pair play nuuurrrdddssss who encounter an alien outside of Area 51.
Not much comedy is shown in this teaser and I need to applaud Greg Mottola&#039;s restraint in not having the alien play air guitar or perform a Black Eyed Peas song. Because that&#039;s the constant temptation and danger with working with CGI characters. Before you even realize it, you&#039;ve veered into Alvin and the Chipmunks territory.
Check out the teaser after the jump...

Scarves = Happiness.
In an effort to collect a handful of &#34;Free Sex&#34; coupons, Jon Hamm could star in his long time girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt&#039;s next directorial effort, Friends With Kids. They haven&#039;t officially kissed on it, but a deal is reportedly in the works. The names Anne Hathaway and Kristen Wiig are also floating around the project, but again, no spit handshakes.
Another thing that isn&#039;t known is what the film is about, except that it&#039;ll probably focus on someone&#039;s friends who have kids. They could be young kids. They could be old kids. &#34;Friends&#34; might used in a sarcastic way, so that it really mean enemies. Same goes for kids. The movie could be about enemies with adults. But one thing is for certain -- if it happens, Jon Hamm will be in it. (ThePlaylist)

<description><![CDATA[ Another red-band trailer for MacGruber has arrived online for you kids to enjoy. Though this peek lacks boobs and butts, it does manage to explode in your face with potty mouth and murder. And if the thought of that arouses you in anyway, you and I have very different definitions of &#34;potty mouth.&#34; All in all, I&#039;m getting really excited to see this movie. It&#039;s a far better love letter to &#039;80&#039;s action than The A-Team seems to be. Between all the looks we&#039;ve been given at the racier materials, I expect to laugh long and hard. Just like that time that old guy fell off his bike while I was driving by. Hahahaha. So old. What&#039;s the deal with celery? After the jump.

<description><![CDATA[The SNL cast member the writers rely on when the week’s host sucks ]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.mademan.com/chickipedia/kristen-wiig/" target="_blank"><strong>Kristen Wiig</strong></a> is the SNL cast member the writers rely on when the week’s host sucks (see <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tvnews/mad-men-actress-january-jones" target="_blank">January Jones</a>). She’s parlayed her talents into many film roles over the past few years, and she’s only picking up steam. As long as Gilly never becomes a feature I’ll remain to be okay with her.</p>
<p><strong>A word from Kristen: </strong>“He’s gonna be naked in all the sketches I write, for sure.”</p>

<description><![CDATA[Freaks and Geeks producers Judd Apatow and Paul Feig are finally joining forces again to grant Kristen Wiig her first starring role in a feature film. Feig will direct, Apatow will produce, and Wiig will almost certainly act awkward. Universal Pictures is keeping the logline under wraps, those sneaky devils, but it is described as revolving around women competing to plan a friend&#039;s wedding party.Really? Are we going to do THAT movie again? Weddings, competitions, and cake icing in various cracks has been up on the silver screen more than Sharon Stone&#039;s whispering eye. I, like everyone else in the all the land, was a big fan of Freeks and Geeks, so I have faith that Apatow and Feig will bring a much needed not-eye-gaugingly-painful spin to the trite concept. Then again, we could just be looking at another Bride Wars with Wiig making digs under her breath and pulling something sexual/dead out of her pocket at the most inappropriate moment. (Variety)
