Kelsey Grammer, Cop Show, ‘Freakonomics’ – It’s Not Mad Libs, It’s An NBC Show

As with most things at NBC, once you get past the logline, this show becomes a lot less interesting. The show, titled Pariah, is a show about a police crew that solves cases with the help of a rogue academic that does little experiments that cause controversy among the more button-down set.

Hmmm. Rogue outsider who has controversial methods but gets results…trying to think if any other shows have done something like that. Nope. New ground is being broken here, folks.

The show will be produced by Kelsey Grammer because, hey, Frasier, and the rogue academic will be modeled on a Freakonomics-type academic, which apparently will be such a source of influence that they felt compelled to mention it in a press release and probably paid those Freakonomics authors some likeness rights.

I really think this is going to be the year NBC bounces back, guys.

This isn’t gonna be easy, guys. Above is the trailer for Sarah Jessica Parker‘s I Don’t Know How She Does It. Watching this trailer requires you to subject yourself to the following: a Parker-style voice-over, a story about the difficulties of being a mom, a mammogram joke that involves Kelsey Grammer, and pretty much all the things that make movies targeted to women terrible. The question is: how far can you make it through the trailer before getting frustrated, bored or both?

Directed by Douglas McGrath, and based on a book by female British author (natch) Allison Pearson, the film is about a business woman who must attain balance between work and home life. “Is such a thing possible,” all you middle aged female Screen Junkies readers are surely wondering to yourselves. You’ll want to be first in line to see I Don’t Know How She Does It on September 16, 2011 to find out.

Also starring Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear, Christina Hendricks Olivia Munn and Seth Meyers, so if Parker wasn’t the lead, at least the cast would have interested me.

USA Getting On Board The Kelsey Grammer Train

USA Network is at the cutting edge of what America wants. And America wants a half-hour single-camera sitcom executive produced by and starring Kelsey Grammer. The sitcom is called “The Dicocco Brothers,” about “an aspiring dot-com entrepreneur who moves to Silicon Valley with his Jersey family in tow.” I’m assuming that this dot-com entrepreneur will also be a pompous ass since he’s being played by Grammer, but I guess it’s also possible he’s looking to stretch his wings a little.

This isn’t USA’s first announced venture into the exciting world of half-hour sitcoms. They previously signed a script deal for a single-camera comedy staring Ron “Tater Salad” White. Maybe the two sitcoms will take place in the same universe, and we’ll eventually see a meeting between Ron White and The Dicocc Brothers. Hey, more boring things have happened! (Deadline)

Apparently, Reality TV Hasn’t Been Cruel Enough To Kelsey Grammer

Kelsey Grammer has decided that he isn’t content merely tarnishing his TV legacy, but would instead like to cram it full of C-4 explosive and detonate it in a densely populated area, possibly near lots of orphans. There was a time when he was fondly remembered as Frasier Crane on two of America’s most beloved sitcoms, “Cheers” and “Frasier”, but Grammer has ushered in a new era for which he will be remembered as the producer of several poorly-hatched reality television shows, a la Seinfeld. His new development company is explicitly only working on reality TV, so….(sigh)

Not content with his wife sullying his good name, he decided to take the reins himself, teaming up with Stella Bulochnikov-Stolper, the dead, dead soul responsible for “Paris Hilton‘s My New BFF”. Stolper was quoted as saying in regards to their development of new reality shows, ““I knew that Kelsey loved this space, and would love to pop some big shows.” While it’s not divulged exactly what they hope to “pop,” given Grammer’s freakishly large dome, I think there’s a natural synergy awaiting with the new Pac-Man reality show. I think that Kelsey Grammer as a big yellow dot is something the whole nation can get behind, and, let’s face it, is probably a lateral move after “Hank” and “Back to You.” (A.V. Club)

Kinnear, Curtin Join ‘SATC’ For The Older Set, ‘I Just Don’t Know How She Does It’

If you’re over 40 and an actor, stay near your phone. The producers of I Don’t Know How She Does It will probably be giving you a ring to get you to join their movie. Today, The Weinstein Company announced the hiring of Greg Kinnear and Jane Curtin to the already-loaded cast featuring Christina Hendricks, Olivia Munn, Seth Meyers, Pierce Brosnan, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kelsey Grammer, and Douglas McGrath.

I Don’t Know How She Does It is the story of Sarah Jessica Parker as a working mom who, judging by the title, wows her peers who just don’t know how she accomplishes all that stuff that looms over 40 year-old women The box office breakdown is expected to be 95% women and 5% sad, broken men. Kinnear will play her husband and Curtin will play Parker’s mom. The film is based on the Allison Pearson novel of the same name.

All those critical of having to hear SJP whine about how hard it is to be a single professional in SATC now get to hear her whine about how hard it is to be a married professional in IDKHSDI. (Don’t expect that acronym to catch on.)(Collider)

Move over, WikiLeaks! “Real Housewife Of Beverly Hills” Camille Donatacci is looking to gain a foothold in her divorce from “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer by threatening to release a sex tape starring the pair. And we have an exclusive still from the night-vision video. Horrifying.

She’s demanding $71 million from the proceedings and will release the tape otherwise. That ain’t cool. Our eyeballs don’t deserve that kind of treatment.
