Not much is known about the film’s presence beyond this logline:

The comedy follows a young conservative religious woman who loses her faith after a plane crash, decides to go to Las Vegas to live the life of a sinner, and on her journey finds her way back to her faith.

With that in mind, I’m seeing Brand as more of a Sin City stalwart than her good ole’ boy back home. The female lead, which will be the bigger part because, c’mon, it’s Diablo Cody, hasn’t been ID’d yet, though Twitch is saying that the frontrunner is Dancing with the Stars contestant and Ryan Seacrest girlfriend Julianne Hough. She sounds…like…she would…be a very…nice addition to this project.

Let’s start with Rock of Ages. The cliche karaoke soundtrack turned Broadway musical turned feature film directed by Adam Shankman hits theaters June 1, 2012. Phew. For a moment there, I stopped believin’. Rock of Ages stars Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige, Julianne “I’m From ‘Dancing With The Stars’ ” Hough and Alec Baldwin.

Meanwhile, Jack The Giant Killer, the Bryan Singer helmed fairy tale adaptation, shimmies down the beanstalk on June 15, 2012. It’s just got to steal a bunch of giant treasure first. Jack The Giant Killer stars Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci and Ian McShane. McAwesome cast. (TheWrap)

Baldwin, Blige, and Hough are joining Tom Cruise and MAYBE Anne Hathaway and Russell Brand, who haven’t signed on yet but are rumored to be attached to the project, which is set to begin filming in May. (via The Playlist)

Hough is starring alongside Tom Cruise and Mary J. Blige as “a girl who comes to Los Angeles looking for the dream.” Ughhh. Tom Cruise plays a rock star named “Stacee Jaxx.” Ughhh. The film’s director, Adam Shankman (Cheaper By The Dozen 2 – Ughhh), describes Hough as being “the most open, sweet ray of sunshine of the world…” Ughhh. He goes on to announce that the lead music producer in the film is from”Glee.” Ughhhhhhhhhhhh.

Wow, where did all those “ughhh”-saying zombies come from?

So I probably won’t be catching this one, you guys. If I want to hear Journey and Bon Jovi songs, I’ll just play them in my gloriously plot-free, “Glee“-free iTunes library. (TheWrap)

Good news and bad news about the Footloose remake. The good news is it’s no longer a Zac Efron vehicle, and it’s no longer based on the Broadway musical. The bad news: it’s still a remake. Dancing with the Stars’ Julianne Hough plays Ariel Moore in director Craig Brewer’s version and she spoke about the remake while promoting her first film, Burlesque, this weekend.

“It’s so true to the original and so fitting for our time the way the script is done right now,” Hough said. “I don’t really dance that much in it. I mean, I do but I had to kind of, not dumb down my dancing but tone it down a little bit. ‘Tone down the hairography’ is what Craig Brewer and I called it.”

Ariel is the daughter of the preacher who bans dancing from his small town in Footloose. The Kevin Bacon original was daring in 1984, so that gives the remake license for 2011. “It’s really a drama with dancing in it rather than a dance movie,” Hough said. “When you look back at the original, it was really edgy. It would probably be rated R in our time now. We’re definitely pushing the envelope a little bit too. The fact that she gets hit in the movie and there’s black eyes. There’s weed in the original movie. It’s like well, they had it so we can do it. So that’s one thing that’s good about redoing the original.”

They still probably shouldn’t remake Footloose, but at least if they do, they can get it right. “Less based on the stage musical, it’s more like the original movie. I’m so happy because I’ve been attached to it for so long, probably about a year and a half now.  It was going to be a big musical and I was going to sing in it and dance in it. Then they changed directors and cast and everything. It’s so wonderful that everything happened the way that it did to get to where it’s at.”

Footloose is due out in 2011.

So…the trailer for Burlesque is here? If you haven’t seen one of those "Midwestern girl comes to Los Angeles to make it big but ends up getting more than she bargained for" movies than you’re in a for a treat. If you have, than I hope you like Christina Aguilera in whore makeup. She’s had it on since the Lady Marmalade music video from Moulin Rouge.

Stanley Tucci delivers the sass like a pro (why is he so good at being sassy?), and Cam Gigandet plays second fiddle to his bowler cap. The standout part of the trailer though is the flawless CGI work. Cher is as realistic and expressive as ever. Kudos Andy Serkis, for donning the motion capture suit once again and bringing another memorable character to life.

Burlesque Trailer – Watch more Movie Trailers

The cast for the Footloose remake has finally been set. Yaaaaay… Julianne Hough is already on board to play the girl, and Dennis Quaid is playing John Lithgow‘s role of Strict Preacher Father. But I’m guessing you want to know who’s filling Kevin Bacon’s fancy shoes?

It’s Kenny Wormwald! You probably remember him from the MTV series "Dancelife" and the film Center Stage: Turn it Up, the sequel to Center Stage. He  can dance, and the film’s director, Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow), must also think he can act. Why else would be turn down Zac Efron and Chase Crawford for at unknown? Oh and some kid named Miles Teller is playing the Chris Penn friend to Bacon role.

Listen, all of this is moot unless Kenny Loggins comes out of hiding and records a new song for the soundtrack. Or Kanye just remixes the original "Footloose" pop sensation. Imagine what Strict Preacher Father would think if all the kids were listening to black people music. Getting crunk is forbidden in his little town.

Known mostly as “that hot chick on Dancing with the Stars,” Julianne Hough may be the sole reason men tune into the show, disregarding the fact that they’ll be forced to see former sports heroes at incredibly low points in their lives.

A word from Julianne: "A lot of people know me as a dancer, but this album shows a different side of me. I’ve experienced a lot for someone my age that a lot of people will be able to relate to."

You’re 22 years old, Julianna. Unless a lot of turmoil occured before your 18th birthday, I doubt people will relate much.

Today’s dancing girl is Julianne Hough, a Utah native who came to “Dancing with the Stars” in Season 4 and promptly won that season’s competish with her partner, Olympian Apollo Anton Ono.  In Season 5, she partnered with Helio Castroneves and did the double, becoming the shows’ only other back-to-back winner besides Cheryl Burke.  She’s also a Country music recording artist with a Mormon background, which might explain why she’s usin the American flag to conceal herself from heathen eyes in the photo above.  Or she’s just the sexiest patriot alive.  Move over, Tom Brady.
