Howerton will lead a group of friends whose very reason for existence is shattered when a thing happens. Those friends will be played by Eastbound & Down’s Steve Little, Parks and Recreation/House of Lies’ Ben Schwartz, and your mom’s Josh Groban in the film written and directed by Brad Copeland. His credits include Arrested Development, My Name Is Earl, and Wild Hogs(?). This is the first theatrical feature to be produced by College Humor, so expect a third of the film to be pictures pulled from the Facebook pages of hot girls. (THR)

The irreproachable mimic has added his name to the dramatis personae of Josh Schwartz‘s upcoming Fun Size. He’ll be joined by Victoria Justice, Thomas Mann, Jane Levy, Thomas Middleditch, Thomas McDonell, Osric Chau, Jackson Nicoll, Ana Gasteyer, Josh Pence, Holmes Osborne, James Pumphrey, Willam Belli and Peter Navy Tuiasosopo in the Halloween adventure/comedy.

The story is centered around a sarcastic teen who loses her younger brother while trick-or-treating and must recover him before their mother finds out. We’ll see just how far that sarcasm gets her when Johnny Knoxville convinces her to fire a bottle rocket out of her butt. (Bloody Disgusting)

Levy has appeared on Showtime’s “Shameless” and filmed a pilot for ABC called “Suburgatory.” If you don’t get Showtime and aren’t an ABC executive, you’ll just have to take my word for it. She would play the best friend of Victoria Justice. In the film, Justice stars as a sarcastic teen who loses her little brother while trick-or-treating. I suppose the greatest treat of all is somehow losing an annoying little brother forever, unless your mom and dad cared about their little boy, and then it would just make for an awkward conversation later that evening.

Here’s what happened. Way back when in 2003 shortly after I finally shaved my soul patch off, Turner was brought in to write X-Men Origins: Magneto. Plans for that film went away while the studio scrambled to pick up all the money audiences threw at X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

During this time, “Gossip Girl‘s” Josh Schwartz was brought on to write an X-Men story that skewed younger. Then Bryan Singer announced his plans to direct and brought on his on writers. Then he dropped out, leaving the job open for Matthew Vaughn, who brought on Jane Goldman. Which means that this cake is getting cut a lot of ways but Schwartz and Turner aren’t getting any no matter how long they awkwardly stand around expecting a slice. The ratio of people-to-cake is too big. (THR)

So far, it sounds like this movie is being made entirely by TV folk. Schwartz (“The OC,” “Chuck”) has never directed a film before. Will he lose control of the set, like Justice’s character loses her little brother while trick-or-treating? I guess we’ll find out if he starts knocking on trailers, looking for his mommy.

Ready to jump from making TV shows about teens to making movies about teens, writer/producer Josh Schwartz (“Gossip Girl,” “The OC”) will make his feature debut with the Halloween comedy Fun Size for Paramount. He has a script by Max Werner (“The Daily Show”), a ton of candy and an unmarked van. Now to cruise around Hollywood, kidnap a kid and turn him into a star. Actually, Schwartz is going the traditional/somewhat-less-creepy route of auditioning.

Are you 8-years-old, 16-years-old, or 28-years old with a ton of rosy cheek make-up and a backpack? Then you can audition. Here’s what they’re looking for:

ALBERT: 8 years old, with chubby cheeks. Albert is undeniably a strange but intriguing little boy, combining childlike ways (like love of anything sugar) with unnerving adult habits (he’s unbeatable on the videogame “Aggravated Assault,” precocious, and is unflappable – even ingenious – in a crisis). STUART: 16 years old. Born and raised in the United States. Stuart is of Asian, East Indian or Middle Eastern descent. Slight in build, Stuart is a kid who talks twice his size. Obsessed with sci-fi and comic books, he is the co-captain of the debate team with his best friend, Roosevelt. (LEAD)

Schwartz will direct and serve as producer under his Fake Empire banner with partner Stephanie Savage. This project comes on the heels of Fake Empire’s announcement that they had secured the rights to Au Revoir, Crazy European Chick, which is maybe, just maybe, another teen movie as well. Actually, it’s about a family that takes in an exchange student who takes in an exchange student who turns out to be an assassin. I wonder if she’ll fall in love with the host family’s awkward but goodhearted son!

Mr. Schwartz definitely has a type, though it seems, on the little information we have about both projects, that his theater fare is more broad and accessible than his TV shows about machiavellia high school juniors trying to “destroy” Blake Lively with needlessly complex plots. (Variety)
