This morning we have a new trailer for Will Reiser’s autobiographical 50/50 that focuses more on the comedic and less on the film’s bummerific aspects. This shorter look leans more heavily on Seth Rogen to make light of Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s cancer like any good friend would. Though as evidenced here, using cancer to pick up chicks isn’t as foolproof as it sounds. It’s cancer. Not a puppy.

50/50 opens in theaters on September 30th and also stars Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard, Phillip Baker Hall, and Angelica Houston.

Rogen, Levine, Reiser, And Goldberg Getting Together To Hit Up ‘Jamaica’

The principals for Jamaica represent a stoner-tastic bunch with the announcement that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have teamed with director Jonathan Levine (The Wackness) and writer Will Reiser, who had previously teamed with Rogen on the upcoming “cancer comedy” 50/50. Unfortunately, Rogen and Goldberg will only be serving as producers, rather than writers or actors. The cast has not yet been found/announced.

Jamaica will draw from Will Reiser’s real-life experience of travelling to the island with his grandmother when he was 14. So there might not be as many weed jokes as one would think. But rest easy, stoners, as that probably means there will just be “a lot” as opposed to “a shit ton.”

The project is being fasttracked with Mandate, so unless there’s going to be some huge unforeseen effects here, this should hit theaters in relatively short order. Which is good, because I don’t know how much longer I can hold out without seeing a grandmother in a bathing suit.

Please stick around after the awkward introduction to watch the trailer for 50/50. Based on the true story of cancer survivor Will Reiser and directed by Jonathan Levine (The Wackness), the film looks pretty well done. Joseph Gordon-Levitt slaps on a cardigan to play Adam (based on Reiser), the cancer-stricken 27-year old who must learn to live with the disease.

Seth Rogen addresses Reiser at the top of the trailer as one of his “best friends.” But then he goes and co-stars as the goofy best friend. Is he imitating himself? Could be. Though at first I thought he was imitating the character Dan Fogler always plays.

Sci-Fi Trilogy ‘Legend’ Finds A Director, Now Just Needs A Book To Adapt

CBS Films had already picked Legend to be their flagship franchise after Twilight ends its reign of terror at the box office, and signing director Jonathan Levine puts them one step closer to that goal. However, while Levine’s attachment soles one problem for them, there’s still that pesky issue of not having any source material to adapt.

Legend won’t hit shelves until November, which actually works well, as Levine, whose biggest credit until now has been The Wackness, will be knee-deep in Warm Bodies, a delightful zombie romance film. While The Wackness was a low-budget coming-of-age indie tale, Warm Bodies will probably serve as a better barometer of what this guy is capable of when he’s got the weight of a studio and starpower behind him, so let’s wait and see with this one, hmmmm?

Legend, as described by Vulture, is ”a Robin Hood–esque tale set a hundred years in the future against a Blade Runner–like Los Angeles.” Yeah, they better start cranking on that book. That little synopsis is pretty damn vague.

Teresa Palmer In Talks To Date Nicholas Hoult

Teresa Palmer is in talks to star opposite Nicholas Hoult in the zombie love story Warm Bodies. Which means she will most likely also end up dating him.

The Jonathan Levine-directed Warm Bodies is described as Twilight meets Shaun Of The Dead. Or “whatever that means” as described by me. The story follows a tormented zombie who befriends the girlfriend of one of his victims. Palmer will play the girlfriend who also happens to be the daughter of a military leader who is growing tired of constantly fighting off the undead.

Just like the way I grow tired of fighting off all those young ninjas trying to make a name for themselves. Alas I am bound by ancient duty. The enchanted relic lives here!! You hear me, ninjas!?!!! (THR)

Yeah, But THIS Zombie Movie Stars Nicholas Hoult

First it was About A Boy, but now it’s all about Nicholas Hoult. The former child actor recently bagged a lead role in Brian Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer, and will play Beast in X-Men: First Class. Actors will probably be asking him for tips now whenever he walks to Pinkberry, cause Hoult just scored another starring role, this time in the zombie film Warm Bodies.

Summit Entertainment, who kicked off the never-ending vampire trend with Twilight, is now content to merely ride the zombie trend with this new pic, about a zombie who kills a girl, then becomes friends with her gal pal. How shirtless will Hoult’s character be? I’m guessing either “mostly” or “entirely.”

Like Twilight, Warm Bodies is also based on a book, this time by author Isaac Marion. Jonathan Levine (The Wackness) is directing. (TheWrap)
