With The Walking Dead pulling in over 9 million viewers with each episode, it was only a matter of time before the show’s stars began snagging movie roles. And the first to grab a starring role is… Carl.

CARL?!?!!

Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl Grimes on the zombie apocalypse drama, is joining Super 8′s Joel Courtney is joining the Stephen King adaptation, Mercy. Based on the 1984 King short story ‘Gramma’, Mercy tells the story of two brothers who travel with their mom to take care of their grandmother. However, no one is aware that Grams is actually a witch who made a disturbing pact years ago. The Haunting In Connecticut’s Peter Cornwell is directing so expect to see some creepy things going in or coming out of these kids’ mouths. Whether weird voices, vomit, or ghost smoke. (THR)

Some Joel Courtneys have all the luck. The Super 8 star didn’t plan to be the breakout star of the summer when he moved to LA for acting classes and hopefully a commercial gig. It just happened that way. Now the young actor can add two new films to his already impressive resume.

Courtney has been cast to play Tom Sawyer in Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn and is in negotiations for the indie-thriller The Healer. He’ll play a disgruntled teen who goes camping with his dad and brother. Their familial bonding is cut short when they encounter an evil force. And the story of Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn is centered around READ A BOOK. (Variety)

New ‘Super 8′ Clips: No Alien But There Is A Zombie

With Super 8 derailing and escaping into theaters this weekend, my excitement is at a fever pitch. However, not every one is as excited to see it at I am and analysts are predicting it won’t earn as much money as the studio hopes it will. Which is fine by me. I don’t like crowded theaters.

The first clip shows off the chemistry between the child leads, Joel Courtney and Elle Fanning. It’s a pretty sweet scene though you do witness the birth of a future necrophiliac. And in the second clip, we see Kyle Chandler in a stylish G.I. Joe outfit and a surly attitude.

Anyway, help out this poor little lamb of a blockbuster film by J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg by putting the below clips in your eyeballs’ bellies. Then decide if you want to head out to theaters this weekend. Those guys could really use the support.
