It’s been a nearly universal opinion that since the Tonight Show debacle with Conan O’Brien, the underlying problem with NBC’s late night schedule is that they simply haven’t tinkered with it enough. Well, always ones to nip perceived problems in the bud, NBC has gotten out their Bob the Builder hats and coveralls and is contemplating a massive overhaul that would put Jimmy Fallon in the Tonight Show spot, have Howard Stern move into the Late Night spot vacated spot, thus freeing up Leno to either take over Stern’s duties hosting a morning radio show, judging a singing contest, or possibly just allowing Leno the eventual freedom to throw his arms up in exasperation and allowing himself to be crushed into a cube, perhaps, after filtration, providing a few pints of clean drinking water for underprivileged Ecuadoran families.

Only time will tell.

ABC is standing by their Jimmy. The network has backed out of negotiations with Late Night with Jimmy Fallon host, Jimmy Fallon (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon) due to his direct rivalry with their own Jimmy Kimmel of Jimmy Kimmel Live fame. Either that or they saw those Capitol One ads that I want to punch.

So, the hunt for a non-Billy Crystal host continues. Just not Carson Daly. Okay, guys? Agreed? (The LA Times)

I don’t want to get all political here, because I know about 88% of you skew heavily to the right, but this story is newsworthy and important, so allow me to present it objectively with minimal commentary.

The Roots, who have always had a sense of humor about the intro music for guests on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, welcomed GOP candidate/person-to-be-taken-seriously Michelle Bachmann onto the show by performing an instrumental version of Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass Bitch.”

I’m guessing that, since that song is 26 years old and very obscure, it wasn’t a coincidence.

So…is this worse than the time they played out Spencer and Heidi to Beck’s “Loser” or Joe Jackson’s “Is She Really Going Out With Him?” for Jessica Biel (cause she was dating JT, ya see)?

What a dumb rhetorical question. Yeah, this is worse. Though the “Loser” intro gives it a run for its money.

Is it really, really funny?

Families across America shouldn’t be subjected to that word.

USA values preclude such a deragatory term being bandied about.

Can’t we find a more adult level of discourse?

Knowing that this is where we are as a country saddens me.

You have to decide that for yourself.

Everyone has a different opinion, all of which are equally valid.

Surely you can find another avenue for political commentary.

Jimmy Fallon Sells Three Scripts To NBC. This Can’t Be Good.

It would appear that, after hours and hours spent away from their loving families, NBC execs finally answered the question, “How do we save this network?” And the answer is: “I dunno. Jimmy Fallon?”

The network announced today that Jimmy Fallon has sold three scripts to the fledgling channel, and the list reads like a bit of a late-night skit itself.

First up is DILFs, about 30-something dads that don’t feel grown up enough to parent but attempt to juggle the responsibilities with their immaturity. Also, judging by the title, someone would like to f#ck these dads.

Secondly is Fat Rob, a comedy focused on a former rap star who juggles his celebrity with his family life. I can’t wait to for this to get greenlit so I can get myself an ironic Fat Rob t-shirt. How crazy would it be if they paired him up with an uptight white guy? That’s right. Infinity crazy.

Thirdly is a script for Rick, a show focusing on a “lovable doofus” who is the step-dad to a man the same age he is. This premise sounds pretty funny, but the network’s phrase “lovable doofus” and the title Rick both send shivers down my spine.

Will these shows save NBC? Probably not on their own, but I’m gonna watch the shit out of Fat Rob.

Jimmy Fallon Sued For Being Too Straight

A former stage manager on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" is suing the show and host for sexual discrimination. But not the sexy Bill O’Reilly kind. The other kind where Fallon didn’t want to be groped by men. What a jerk he is.

Paul Tarascio of Oradell has filed the complaint with the U.S. Equal Opportunity Employment Commission and the New York Division of Human Rights. He claims he got demoted and then fired from his job on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” because, he was told, “Jimmy just prefers to take direction from a woman,” his lawyer tells us. The complaint also alleges that Fallon wanted only female technicians to place microphones on him, and only after a succession of women weren’t up to the task, he allowed a man, someone he’d worked with previously, to do the job.

When reached for comment, Fallon tried to tell a joke but giggled uncontrollably and nervously played with his hair. That’s what we get for hiring Horatio Sanz as our field reporter. (Warming Glow)

If you’re the fan of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, you know that he’s been doing his all to have a Saved by the Bell reunion on his show. He even got the real Zack Morris to stop by. Now IMDB reports that Tiffani Thiessen aka Kelly Kapowski stands as the lone castmember not on-board with Fallon’s ratings ploy. Citing that "a reunion would remind audiences she hasn’t done anything for years."

Hmmm… maybe she could host a late night talk show.

Kudos to you, Mar Paul Gosselaar, for being able to make fun of yourself. Kudos, to you, sir! Last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Mark Paul Gosselaar, currently starring in "Raising the Bar" on TNT, showed up in full "Saved By the Bell" Zach Morris regalia, and did a classic Zach Morris direct-address to camera. It was kind of uncanny how much he can still pull off Bayside High’s coolest student ever. The phone you coul choke a horse with played no small part in selling it. Say what you want about Jimmy Fallon as a host. He’s still finding his legs. But you can’t deny he and his team of writers – including head staffer A.D. Miles from "The State" – are coming up with some material that rivals Conan’s Late Night crew.
