Arrested Development helped propel many of its cast members to stardom and paved the way for exciting new work opportunities. But every project can’t be as original and hilarious as the groundbreaking comedy series. And whether it be for art or commerce, cast members have had to take on a few roles in lesser projects since the sitcom’s demise.

Here’s a rundown of the cast’s most embarrassing post-Arrested Development projects.

Jason Bateman – The Ex

Jason Bateman kicked off his career of appearing in every comedy known to man with a co-starring role in The Ex. Here he plays the wheelchair-bound tormentor to Zack Braff, who believes Bateman has designs on his wife. This also kicks off the beginning of Bateman’s raunchy, gross out comedy. I like the part where he falls down.

Michael Cera- Paper Heart

The pseudo-documentary/hipster fart smell-a-thon Paper Heart helped transform Michael Cera from the awkward teen on Arrested Development to awkward teen in everything. Now a household name, Cera has taken roles in some pretty interesting projects… interesting in the aspect that people somehow enjoy them.

Colin Hanks Is A Murderous Creep… In ‘Lucky’

Colin Hanks has now won both the genetic lottery and the money one. As this trailer for Lucky shows Hanks plays a guy who wins the hand of the girl of his dreams after coming into serious dough. And, oh yeah, he’s also a murderer who targets pretty, young, blonde women. Hey! Stop killing all the pretty, young, blonde women Colin Hanks!! We need those!!! Guess he’s just practicing for Dexter.”

Poor Tom and Rita. One son prides himself a white rapper. The other is a murderer. It must be almost hard to choose a favorite.

Jeffrey Tambor And Bette Midler Murdered Their Auditions For Phil Spector Biopic

HBO is making a biopic about the Phil Spector murder trial. Now there’s more news from behind the Wall of Sound: Al Pacino, who will play Spector, is lawyering up.

Bette Midler and Jeffrey Tambor will play defense attorneys in the film: Midler’s portraying Linda Kenney Bade and Tambor will be Bruce Cutler. Not sure how comfortable I’d be if George Bluth Sr. was defending me in court, but at least you’d get a frozen banana or two. In contrast, I’d totally ask the Bette Midler witch from Hocus Pocus to defend me – you simply don’t mess with that.

The biopic will be directed by writer David Mamet, and executive produced by Barry Levinson. As for Pacino, between roles in You Don’t Know Jack, this and Gotti: Three Generations, it looks like he’s trying to literally “make history.” I wish him the best of luck in his history-making endeavors. Cera and Tambor Talk ‘Arrested Development’ Movie

For years, losers like myself have staved off our suicidal thoughts with the hope of an Arrested Development movie. But month after month, it’s a roller coaster of emotions as rumors about the on-again off-again project mount. But now comes a sliver of hope! Michael Cera and Jeffrey Tambor both seem to think it’s happening!

Based on interviews the stars did at Comic-Con, the film almost seems inevitable. Unfortunately, neither star has any specifics, although Tambor went as far as to say he may need a walker by time the film gets under way.

Strange, I never thought I’d use the term c*cktease and Jeffrey Tambor in the same sentence. Michael Cera, on the other hand…me-ow! (Empire Online)
