Who wouldn't want to watch this?

I’ve got some “buzz”-kill news for fans of David Cronenberg and, or Musca domestica. Those maggots at Fox have passed on the famed director’s followup script for his 1980′s horror masterpiece, The Fly, a move which leaves a shitty taste in my mouth. I could make fly jokes all day, but I’d get fired.

“I wrote a script and at the moment Fox is not wanting to do the project,” said Cronenberg, who reportedly finished writing the screenplay last month. In the interview, Cronenberg also stated that he may turn his attention to Eastern Promises 2, so at least there’s a silver lining.

Perhaps the studio is apprehensive about putting millions of dollars into a movie about household pests. But I find that hard to believe, since Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwreched had no problem getting a green light. Are rodents really preferable to insects?

Source

Whoa, is that Jeff Goldblum?

The FX sitcom The League is quickly developing a reputation for its impressive roster of celebrity guest stars. We had a clip featuring Seth Rogen a few weeks ago, and now we’ve got two stars for the price of one: Sarah Silverman and … whoa, is that Jeff Goldblum? Always nice to see him around. Anyway, if you think you can handle the star-power, the next episode of The League airs Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 10:30 PM ET/PT on FX.

Just kidding. Nothing's sexier than a shirtless Jeff Goldblum...

Steven Spielberg had already earned a spot in film history by 1993, but that was the year he cemented it with Jurassic Park. The story of a billionaire’s dream of bringing dinosaurs back to life and the unfortunate repercussions of that dream is still as exciting to watch as it was nearly 18 years ago.

The film was released today on Blu-ray DVD in the Jurassic Park Trilogy Box Set. Now, the second and third films aren’t as beloved as the first, so some of you might be hesitant to purchase the entire series. But you shouldn’t be. The first film is worth that money alone. And come on, the second film isn’t as bad as you remember (since Jeff Goldblum is awesome and insane). The third film is… never mind.

So, what are you getting with this blu-ray? You’re getting the best possible picture for these films. It’s crisp, colorful, and gorgeous. The sound is as amazing as if you were in a theater, and if you have 7.1 surround sound, you’ll enjoy it even more.

Wit the box set, you’re also getting all the extras from the DVD releases plus a great six-part documentary about the making of the trilogy. It clocks in at just over two hours and it’s worth watching every minute. The first film gets three parts. You get to see the original stop-motion dinosaur animation, and thank God they went digital (though hearing the animators talk about it is pretty sad.) All the actors are back, and they are a pleasure to listen to (especially Jeff Goldblum…again, awesome and insane). And of course, hearing Steven Spielberg talk about making movies is about as entertaining as his movies.

The second film has two parts, which are more of the same, but still highly interesting for Jurassic Park fans. And then the third film gets one part, and it starts with talking about the Jurassic Park ride, which is sort of funny if you think about it. But, give it a watch anyway. William H. Macy is cool and he talks a lot.

The trilogy is released today with an SRP of $79.98, but many retailers are selling it for much less. In my opinion, this is definitely one you need in your Blu-ray collection.

I think we can all agree the Nobel ceremony would have been a lot more fun with a disappointed Marlon Brando in the audience.

It’s that time of year again…NOBEL PRIZES!!! After you stop urinating in your pants and hyperventilating, collect yourself and wonder what would happen if the Nobel committee wasn’t simply limited to boring real-world scientists, but could also comb through the far more interesting and advanced world of movie science.

They’d end up giving the following nine movie scientists awards, which I would suggest be renamed “The Goldblums.”

Chris Knight – Real Genius

He filled an entire house with popcorn and made it explode using the laser from an airplane. Since he usurped the laser from Professor Hathaway, Chris prevented the laser from being used as a militar weapon, which merits the Nobel Peace Prize. The fact that he blew up a house with popcorn is just the icing on the cake.

If Chris Knight falls out of contention, could the committee at least recognize Lazlo’s work out of a closet?

Doc Brown – Back to the Future Franchise

Sure, others in film have crafted time machines, but has any been as elegantly simple as Doc Brown’s DeLorean? It’s so simple that I can explain it to you right here:

Enter in the destination time/date

Harness 1.21 gigawatts (jigga who?) of power, presumably from a lightening bolt

Have the energy power the flex capacitor

Drive 88 MPH

Have a nice day

Sure, he was the outcast of Hill Valley, but the man was able to recreate the experiment in 1985, 1955, and in the old west. Versatility has to count for something, right? Also, judging by his appearance in 1955 and then in 1985, he appears to have innovated some anti-aging ray that the committee would be eager to learn more about.

John Hammond – Jurassic Park

While not a scientist himself, John Hammond is no doubt a man of science, having proven to be the driving force behind InGen, the genetics firm responsible for the miracle that is Jurassic Park. The technology used in this film was fairly prescient, but the award should be tossed Hammond’s way if for no other reason than his dinosaur’s ate Newman.

I have it on good authority that the Nobel Committee is comprised of a number of Seinfeld fans, almost all of whom hate Newman.

Semi-abandoned mall, actually.

Something crazy is happening. Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim are really shooting a movie, and it will really have a cast that includes Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Jeff Goldblum, Will Forte, Robert Loggia and Zach Galifianakis. They’ve all signed on. Oh, but that Harrison Ford rumor was just that, so n Indiana Jones / Spagett cross-over.

When I heard the news that Tim And Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie was happening, I half-assumed it was a joke, like their infamous promotional campaign for Shrek The Third. However, it looks like the stars of Adult Swim‘s “Tim & Eric Awesome Show” are planning on taking over the big screen… but what will they do to it, exactly?

The sketch show was anti-comedy at its most purposefully, elegantly grating, and also was dolled out in 11 minute episodes. As much as I loved the title and posters for Aqua Teen Hunger Force Comma Movie Film For Theaters, I fell asleep half-way through. Of course, I wasn’t stoned, which I was later told was the problem.

Still, the thought of Beaver Boys and James Quall on the big screen is as exciting as finding my Chippy. Below is the plot, or the thing that will semi-resemble plot. (TheWrap)

The movie is about the comedians’ characters, Tim and Eric, who, Wareheim said, “literally get a billion dollars to make a movie, and we make it, and things go awry, and Tim and I just decide to get out of Hollywood and become businessmen in an abandoned mall.

Heidecker interrupted: “Semi-abandoned mall,” he said. “About 10 percent occupancy.”

JJ Abrams gives Ford and McAdams a sneak peek at the "Lost" finale. Finally, a movie staring Harrison Ford that you're supposed to laugh at (besides Six Days Seven Nights and Hollywood Homicide, which you were supposed to laugh at, but didn't). Morning Glory, produced by golden boy JJ Abrams and co-staring Rachel McAdams, Diane Keaton, Patrick Wilson, and Jeff Goldblum, seems like it might have some legitimate humor. The movie tells the story of a “hotshot television producer is set the challenge of reviving a struggling morning show program, despite the constant feuding of its high-profile anchors.” It comes across as part Network, part "Today Now", and part steaming pile of sh*t. That last part is probably due to the fact that the film shares a screenwriter with The Devil Wears Prada and a director with Notting Hill. Even so, the trailer looks pretty good until the 2:00 mark, when Ford gets emotional and that Natasha Bedingfield song kicks in (I looked her up). See the trailer for yourself after the jump.

Note to Jennifer Aniston: put your cups of semen away when you're done with them. If you don't, Jason Bateman will get drunk, perform impromptu experiments, and your hopes of fertilization will go rushing down the drain. ...Or will it? In the trailer for The Switch, formally known as The Baster, Bateman plays a humdrum mope named Wally who switches Patrick Wilson's love juice out with his own. Here, come closer. **Hushed tone** See, the only thing is though, Aniston's character was planning on using that love juice to conceive a child. So then guess what happens. She uses WALLY'S love juice instead. Then guess what happens! She has a kid! THEN GUESS WHAT HAPPENS!!! COMEDY!!!!!!!!! The film is directed by Josh Gordon & Will Speck, the same guys who did Blades of Glory, and also stars Jeff Goldblum as the same best friend character he played to Hugh Grant in Nine Months. Why do people continually listen to Goldblum's advice? The man has absolutely nothing of reason to offer. Check out the trailer after the jump. The Switch inserts itself in theaters August 20th, 2010.
