Deciphering ‘The Muppet Movie’ Cameos
Thursday, November 18 by

Using the awesome power of the Screen Junkies super computer (The SJ 3000), I was able to determine the most probable roles for those rumored to be appearing in the film, and you can’t argue with science. So sit back and see for yourself who will be playing what in the upcoming Muppet Movie.

Please take a moment, open your journals, and write this information down. Trust me, you’ll want to always remember where you were when you first heard this news. Emily Blunt might appear in a good movie.

It’s Time to Get Things Started: A First Look at Jason Segel’s ‘The Muppets’
Wednesday, November 10 by

They could call it “The Cancer Causing Anti-American Puppet Crapstravaganza,” and I’d still go see it twice.

Jack Black Gets Wedgied By A Robot In New ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ Trailer
Tuesday, November 2 by

It's been awhile since high school English but I don't remember anything in Gulliver's Travels about a gigantic mechanized suit giving Gulliver an atomic wedgie. Yet that's exactly what happens in this new trailer. Strange though, because I would definitely have remembered that part.
I also don't remember Foosball, Star Wars jokes, a Lilliputian KISS cover band, or general Jack Black fat-guy-fall-down hammery. But they're all in here. I feel so bad for the kid who rents this instead of reading the book before his big term paper is due.
Check out the trailer after the jump…

Zach Galifianakis Might Join Muppet Movie
Wednesday, October 27 by

Zach Galifianakis, everyone's favorite bearded comedian at the moment, is in talks to appear in the upcoming Muppet movie as a person, even though he looks a helluva lot like Fozzy Bear. Robert Downey Jr. dropped the casting news during a press interview for Due Date. That Downey. He's incorrigable.
Galifianakis would join Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Rashida Jones, and Chris Cooper, who have all already been cast. The new film, directed by James Bobin, will "take place within a showbiz setting and follow the Muppets as they try to save their studio from a greedy oil baron (Cooper) who wants to dig for oil. Segel is set to play the lead who reunites the Muppets for one last show to save the studio; Adams is his girlfriend, while Jones will play an ABC executive." No word yet on what Galifianakis would play. Maybe a film director. It's time he put that beard to good use. (ThePlaylist)

The New ‘Muppet Movie’ Gets Some Humans (Almost)
Friday, October 15 by

The Muppets are pretty damn awesome all by themselves. Why someone would take a perfectly good Muppet movie and add humans to it is something I'll never know, but it seems the film's screenwriter, Jason Segal, is doing just that. Aside from casting himself in the film, Segal is bringing a whole host of skinjobs with him.

Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, and Rashida Jones are reported very close to signing on to the project. "Adams would play Segal's girlfriend, Cooper would play the greedy villain, and Jones would play an ABC executive." The plot involves the Muppets getting their show back together in order to save a movie studio. Cooper wants to buy the studio so he can drill for oil underneath its property, but Kermit the Frog is all like, "F**k that noise, son!"

Unfortunately, they'll probably cut that last line out. Ya know, for the kids. (THR via Vulture)

The Muppets Join Forces with Pixar to Kick All Kinds of Ass
Thursday, July 22 by

Good news for people who like things that are unbelievably awesome. Jason Segel and the team involved with the next Muppet movie recently met with the bigwigs at Pixar to discuss ways to make your head explode.
Some of the members of the so-called "Pixar Brain Trust" — filmmakers John Lasseter, Brad Bird, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton, Michael Arndt, Bob Peterson and president Ed Catmull — were there for the consultations. Docter is a particularly avid Muppets fan, so he almost certainly was one of the attendees. On the Disney side, Muppets director James Bobin and producers David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman were likely in the room along with Segel.
While plot details are hard to come by, as long as they don't have Kermit and Fozzie experimenting with homosexuality and adopting African children, I'll pay to see it twice. And even if they did go that route, with this kind of talent behind the film, it's hard to imagine how it could end up sucking. In fact, I haven't been this excited about a film's prospects since I first heard that an unfettered George Lucas was working on a little film called Phantom Menace. (THR)

Jack Black Experiences Bondage in ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ Trailer
Friday, June 4 by

A talking rabbit once told me, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." I turned that rabbit into a stew because I loathe miracles of science, but its words always stuck with me. Having said that, FOX released the trailer for the new Jack Black film Gulliver's Travels. It's based off the classic Jonathan Swift novel you haven't read, and also stars Emily Blunt, Amanda Peet, T.J. Miller, and Jason Segel. Basically a man-child goes to the Bermuda Triangle for a fluff news piece and ends up getting into an S&M type situation with little people. It's like that scene in Night at the Museum when Owen Wilson and Steve Coogan come to life, if that scene was over 90 minutes long. Your kids are gonna love it. Pack juice boxes for them and a couple Xanax for yourself. Oops, there go those mean words. Check out the trailer after the jump. Gulliver's Travels washes into theaters December 22, 2010.

‘Despicable Me’ Trailer Counts as Annoying
Wednesday, March 24 by

The Despicable Me trailer gives me the frownies. If I had kids who made me play this repeatedly for them while they jump up and down and giggle, "Again, Daddy, again!", they'd be orphaned like the precocious tots in the story. But that's why I only bed menopausal women. Have fun parents!! At least now we see a semblance of the plot as Steve Carell's Gru and his minions strive to steal the moon, bash an adorable children's book about kittens drinking milk, and enact revenge on a smug carnie. It's about time someone knocked those gypsies down a few pegs. They think they're so great with their intimate Tilt-a-Whirl knowledge and methamphetamine addictions. Check out the Despicable Me trailer after the jump.

Timberlake Going to Make Things Awwk-waaard on Diaz’s ‘Bad Teacher’
Tuesday, March 2 by

For God's sake, someone help him! There's going to be a lot of whispering on the set of Bad Teacher now that Justin Timberlake has joined the fold. Mr. Dick In A Box himself signed on to star opposite his ex-girlfriend Cameron Diaz in the romantic comedy. What makes matters even more cringe-worthy is Diaz plays a middle-school teacher who's dumped and sets her sights on a colleague that's dating Timberlake's character. Ooooooh sh******t. Things are gonna get ROWDY. The film's other stars, Jason Segel, Molly Shannon, Lucy Punch, and Modern Family's Eric Stonestreet, will have to tread lightly around the couple with the rocky past. Director Jake Kasdan, the likely referee, may have signed on for more than he bargained for. He should take a meeting about coping with on-set deaths with Jon Landis, who knows a thing or two from The Twilight Zone movie. Timberlake blood could haunt him for years. (Variety)

James Bobin May Have a Hand in the New Muppet Movie
Friday, January 29 by

The Muppet Gang leisurely rushes Kermit to the hospital. Flight of the Conchords co-creator James Bobin has been given the go-ahead to direct Disney's New Muppet Movie, he just has to decide if he wants to play with dolls all day. The choice could prove to be a difficult one considering Judd Apatow is also tugging on Bobin's sleave to direct his new movie Bridemaids, written by awkward-character-playing SNL cast member Kristen Wiig. "What to do, what to do?!" screams Bobin's conscience. One would think Bobin would like to dive head first in to Apatow's bouncy castle of go-to guys, but taking the reins of a Muppet Movie written by Jason Segel and Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller could give his feature career the soft, furry kick in the pants it needs. With Bobin et al manning The Muppets, we're sure to get something more edgy than pies in the face and spinning bowties on bears. But I'm not expecting hot pig-on-frog action either. (Vulture)

Jason Segel Wants You to Call Him
Friday, November 20 by

Jason Segel wants college girls interested in having sex with him to call him at 315-329-6673. He even wrote a little ditty about it and performed it with The Swell Season (Once actors Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova) at The Wiltern in Los Angeles last Wednesday. When you call the number you are given an email address to contact Segel (helptronics@gmail.com). No word yet if he responds, but if he screws even half the girls that write to him we're not going to be seeing him on a movie screen anytime soon. (/Film)
