From SeattlePI: The film, directed and co-written by Stephen Gyllenhaal (Jake Gyllenhaal's daddy) is based on ex-Stranger writer Phil Campbell's book "Zioncheck for President." Grassroots retells Campbell's work with Grant Cogswell's quirky 2001 bid for Seattle City Council and support for the monorail expansion. In the past ten years, Stephen Gyllenhaal has directed a few TV episodes and movies here and there, but nothing of note. Unless you consider the "Uncharted Territory" episode of "Army Wives" something of note. The real question is, can he produce a monorail piece as prolific as this: I highly doubt it.
