Inspect 2 New ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows’ Posters

Guy Ritchie‘s upcoming sequel to Sherlock Holmes, subtitled A Game of Shadows is coming out in December of this year. And in order to promote this event, Warner Bros. has released a couple of posters, each featuring a close-up of one of the two main characters, which you can see below. One features Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock himself, and the other has Jude Law as his dependable sidekick Watson. Jared Harris as archvillain Moriarty and Noomi Rapace as “Slim” can also be seen in the background.

These posters are pretty cool, if conventional. And, surprise, they’re very reminiscent of the posters for the first Sherlock Holmes movie. As Sherlock once said to Watson: “My dear Watson, if it isn’t broken, then why endeavor upon fixing it?” (Yahoo!)

It’s been a long time since a John Carpenter joint was in a theater near you (since 2001′s Ghosts of Mars, in fact). But now, the wait is over, and here’s a first look at his latest horror movie, The Ward.

Set in a mental institution, it stars Lyndsy Fonseca, Amber Heard, and Danielle Panabaker. And there’s an appearance from Jared Harris of”Mad Men,” which is interesting because like “Mad Men,” The Ward is set in the 1960s. The trailer’s presumably been edited with an eye toward putting a “modern spin” on Carpenter’s restrained, static style. Although it could also be that Carpenter managed to restrain himself. You’ll have to wait until the movie comes out to find out for sure. It’s going to be released to VOD on June 8th, and in theaters on July 8th. If you can’t wait until then, try a strait-jacket. They do wonders for me.

There’s been a lot of speculation about who would end up playing Professor Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes 2. The list of candidates for the role of Holmes’s greatest enemy boasted big names such as Brad Pitt and Daniel Day Lewis. And now, the waiting is over. Without further ado, the man who will play Sherlock Holmes‘s archnemesis is…. "Mad Men’s" Jared Harris. Wait, what? The nerd who got drunk and put a steak on his crotch? That’s the guy we’re talking about here? Shut the front door.

Latino Review broke the story first and I was skeptical. Then Collider confirmed the story and I was less leery, but this still seems like a long shot to me. Guy Ritchie does realize this movie will be playing in America, right?
