A man is tumbling through space until his oxygen runs out, wondering what the hell happened. Do not see this movie stoned.

After directing Jane Eyre, I can’t blame Cary Fukunaga for wanting to go in a more stimulating (read: explosion-y) route with Spaceless. The director has just signed on to not only helm the project, but also rewrite the script originally penned by Jeff Vintar. I guess this means, that No Blood, No Guts, No Glory will be on the back burner for a bit.

According to THR, the premise of the project is as follows:

The story centres on an assassin who wakes up inside a spacesuit tumbling helplessly through space, with a computer designed to keep him company until his air runs out. He must try to solve the mystery of his death, which began when he broke into an orbiting space station to carry out a hit. The man, however, begins to question his reality, unsure if he is succumbing to madness or in an artificially created environment.

That sounds like a really freaky premise. I wish Jane Eyre was more like that. It’s like Castaway, but interesting. I’m sure the protagonist will be a very important role here, but the producers here will REALLY want to make sure they nail that computer voice. Casey Kasem, Christopher Walken, McLovin: These are all good choices.

Holliday Grainger has a thing for period pieces. That might be a bit of an assumption, but considering her last two major gigs have involved costumes from another century, it can’t be too far-fetched an observation. Grainger plays the subtly sensual Lucrezia Borgia on the upcoming Showtime series “The Borgias,” a role that places her in the midst of 15th century Italy, surrounded by wealth and extravegance and intrigue. Before that, she appeared alongside Mia Wasikowska in Jane Eyre, frilly bonnet and all.

A word from Holliday: “It’s always really surreal, being on a film set, but inside a beautiful, massive scene.”

A native of Northern Ireland, Jayne Wisener got her break in the United States in 2007 with a prominent role in Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

A native of Northern Ireland, Jayne Wisener got he break in the United States in 2007 with a prominent role in Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Nineteen-years-old at the time, Wisener was in initially turned down for the role of 15-year-old Johana due to the age difference between her and the character. As Wisener put it, however, this would be the one time that looking young for her age paid off in the acting world. She was eventually awarded the part, which kick-started her career in the U.S. and eventually led to such gigs as a role in upcoming period piece Jane Eyre, out this week.

A word from Jayne: “It was amazing. I was like ‘I’m going to audition for a Tim Burton film.’ I couldn’t believe it.”

Australian actress Mia Wasikowska broke onto the scene stateside in 2008 with a critically acclaimed role in the HBO series "In Treatment."

Australian actress Mia Wasikowska broke onto the scene stateside in 2008 with a critically acclaimed role in the HBO series “In Treatment.” She’s been a growing fixture in American cinema since then, first scoring a part in Edward Zwick‘s Defiance, which in turn led to an influx of big-name gigs, including the titular role in Tim Burton‘s 2010 retelling of Alice In Wonderland. Catch her this weekend in Jane Eyre, and look out for her next big role in Gus Van Sant‘s Restless, out later this year.

A word from Mia: “Sometimes it’s the more realistic topic of real life that really intrigues me.”
