The Muppets come to theaters November 23rd. The film is directed by James Bobin, starring/written by Jason Segel. Interesting choice of tagline: “They’re Closer Than You Think.” Wait. Hear that? I think there might be a Muppet in my apartment right now. I’d better get my baseball bat, in case it’s one of the giant monsters. He got the nickname “Sweetums” in prison, you know. (AICN)

On the maiden voyage of Disney Dream, a “majestic cruise ship” that features stuff to do for everyone except dudes who want to bang chicks without husbands and kids, Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs gave a presentation to passengers about upcoming Disney projects. Someone snapped a picture of this preview slide for The Muppets, and it looks like the film’s logo has been revealed. Kermit has been killed, cut up, and his chest has been re-sewn into a letter “M,” perhaps by the still-at-large Sesame Street Killer.

This week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly features a snap shot of Muppet chaos with Jason Segel smack dab in the middle. Most the characters in the new Muppet Movie you might recognize, but one precocious little fella stands out. His name is Walter, and he’s the one holding an iPhone that tells us these ain’t your daddy’s Muppets. These Muppets can video conference!

According to the magazine, Walter is “a sweet, slightly naive twenty-something Everypuppet who, in the movie, is the best friend and roommate of Segel’s character, Gary. Both Gary and Walter are die-hard Muppet fans.” Is Segel’s character a die hard fan of only the famous Muppets, or just Muppets in general? If he’s totally stoked by all Muppets then it must be rad rooming with one. The bursting into song could get annoying, but at least you know he won’t take a rank deuce in your shared bathroom.

Zach Galifianakis, everyone’s favorite bearded comedian at the moment, is in talks to appear in the upcoming Muppet movie as a person, even though he looks a helluva lot like Fozzy Bear. Robert Downey Jr. dropped the casting news during a press interview for Due Date. That Downey. He’s incorrigable.

Galifianakis would join Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Rashida Jones, and Chris Cooper, who have all already been cast. The new film, directed by James Bobin, will "take place within a showbiz setting and follow the Muppets as they try to save their studio from a greedy oil baron (Cooper) who wants to dig for oil. Segel is set to play the lead who reunites the Muppets for one last show to save the studio; Adams is his girlfriend, while Jones will play an ABC executive." No word yet on what Galifianakis would play. Maybe a film director. It’s time he put that beard to good use. (ThePlaylist)

Disney has announced the latest installment from Kermit and the gang will hit theaters on Christmas Day, 2011, just in time for the Christ child’s birthday.

Writen by Jason Segel and directed by "Flight of the Conchords" co-creator James Bobin, the project is aimed at introducing the Muppets to a whole new generation of fans.

According to Variety, the film will be up against Steven Spielberg’s Adventures of Tintin and Cameron Crowe‘s We Bought a Zoo, both of which can kiss my ass. It’s Muppet time, bitches! Wakka Wakka Wakka!

Flight of the Conchords co-creator James Bobin has been given the go-ahead to direct Disney’s New Muppet Movie, he just has to decide if he wants to play with dolls all day. The choice could prove to be a difficult one considering Judd Apatow is also tugging on Bobin’s sleave to direct his new movie Bridemaids, written by awkward-character-playing SNL cast member Kristen Wiig. "What to do, what to do?!" screams Bobin’s conscience. 

One would think Bobin would like to dive head first in to Apatow’s bouncy castle of go-to guys, but taking the reins of a Muppet Movie written by Jason Segel and Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller could give his feature career the soft, furry kick in the pants it needs. With Bobin et al manning The Muppets, we’re sure to get something more edgy than pies in the face and spinning bowties on bears. But I’m not expecting hot pig-on-frog action either. (Vulture)
