Everyone’s curious what Johnny Depp is going to do with the character of Barnabus Collins in Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows adaptation. Will he make him super-gay or super-duper gay??
Here’s some casting that makes perfect sense. Tim Burton has his sights on virginal Bella Heathcoate and professional creepazoid Jackie Earle Haley for his stab at Dark Shadows.
Well, whoop-tee-doo!!! This new clip from A Nightmare On Elm Street gives us a better look at the "micro-naps" introduced in the previous trailer. They occur when the insomniac has been awake for 70 hours, forcing them to dream without falling asleep. I gotta say the device is used to nice effect here, fading between the drug store and the boiler room as Freddy Krueger menaces his victim. Speaking of Krueger, we get a pretty good look at him too. But enough with the glove already. Always scraping the blades against pipes or clanking them together. We get it, dude. You're the "glove guy." It's your thing. Such a show-off with your fancy toys. And stop playing with your iPad when I'm trying to talk to you! (Yahoo)Don't sleep on this clip after the jump…
As April 30th grows closer, New Line is beginning their full-on marketing push for Platinum Dunes re-imagining of A Nightmare on Elm Street. This week has given us an onslaught of promotion. By this point we've seen a teaser, behind-the-scenes footage, stills, and now this second trailer. The first trailer offered bits of Freddy's backstory and a glimpse of Jackie Earle Haley in the makeup. This time around we get a good look at the nightmare sequences themselves, though not that great of a look at Krueger. But from what we do see, I'd say he's a lot more terrifying than his days with the Fat Boys.
This cast is really shaping up.Earlier this week, Blake Lively was cast as the 22-year old aerospace executive / love interest to Ryan Reynold's Green Lantern. Then Peter Saarsgard was cast as the film's villian. Today comes a report that Jackie Earle Haley will be off-setting the attractiveness of castmembers ratio significantly by signing on as another villian named Sinestro. From HitFix: "Don't expect him to be onscreen for the entire movie. But unless something drastically changes, he is in the film. And I'm hearing that based on the relationship they have with him from "Watchmen" and "A Nightmare On Elm Street," Jackie Earle Haley is the only choice for Sinestro by the studio." Haley is an okay choice for this even though he looks nothing like the character from the books. Both Daniel Day Lewis and Bradley Whitford would fit the mold better. Problem is, Day Lewis would never do it, and Brad Whitford… Brad Whitford just wants it too badly. (HitFix)
I'm not sure if I should be eager about the upcoming remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street. Given the track record of recent genre rehashes and reports of reshoots and studio interference, it could go either way. Still there's a part of me that wants this film to be really good and by the looks of this behind the scenes footage, that may well be the case. This featurette, included on The Final Destination's DVD release (a movie so bad that I'd sooner barf lava than watch it again), shows Jackie Earle Haley in full-on Freddy mode. Definitely check it out especially if you're on the fence like I am. Or was. I'm now eager to see more. (via Dread Central)
