Irving Kershner, best known for directing The Empire Strikes Back, the second best Star Wars film (The Clone Wars is obviously the best), has died. This is sad news indeed, especially following the news of Leslie Nielsen’s passing. The holidays bring a lot of joy, but soon after we usually hear of a good amount of elderly people slipping away into the unknown. These deaths often have more to do with complications due to age rather than turkey consumption. Irving Kershner also directed the Bond entry Never Say Never Again and Robocop entry Robocop 2, a sequel that didn’t exceed the original, but was still a valiant effort. R.I.P. Mr. Kershner. I hope you’re having an epic lightsaber battle with St. Peter at this very moment.
